My husband & I went to enjoy a breakfast on a Sat. morning after checking Google reviews & seeing lots of pics of yummy items. However, when we arrived we found a very limited menu w/only 1 sweet dish (Ube French Toast) all other dishes are considered savoy breakfast items. We asked the server about some of the other French Toaso & she stated that their other location carries more items than they do (1st strike). My hubby asked to order a Mimi Pie from the menu & was told there were none made, but there might be some tomorrow, like we cared about what’s avail tomorrow (2nd strike). I ordered a Cappuccino, & the Chicken & Waffles (herd buttermilk) since I was told the Orange Glaze flavor also wasn’t available (3rd strike) My hubby got the Chilaquiles. I got my Cappuccino but sadly drank it all before the food ever arrived, since we waited approx. 30mins for our food (4th strike). My dish looked promising but when I bit into the chicken it was absolutely the worst fried chicken I’ve ever had. There was absolutely NO flavor, not even a hint of salt. It tasted like they took a piece of chicken simply dipped it in buttermilk & plain flour then fried it in rancid oil, I was not eating that! My hubby’s Chilaquiles were also a total let down. It was mainly a bowl of chips with minimal toppings, 1 fried egg & hardly any sauce, I compared the dish to nachos rather than Chilaquiles (5th strike). At this point there was nothing to salvage about our visit. We both just wanted to leave, I explained to the server our opinions on the food and that we didn’t want to try anything else on the menu. She informed the manager who never even came to our table, but told our server we didn’t have to pay for anything. I did offer to pay for my cappuccino, but they refused. The server was very polite but this place was an absolute disaster. Nothing about it will ever make me want to return & I can’t believe with all the recent low Google reviews they still average 4.2 stars. This is very misleading to new customers. Reviews should really be weighed against the past...

I finally made my way to Toast Kitchen & Bakery and I am so glad I did!!
I stopped by on a Tuesday for brunch. We came in hungry for some tasty food and we left with a smile on our faces!!
The inside was clean and there was plenty of seating inside and there is even outdoor area. We sat inside (it was a cold day in Cali 64' lol)
On to the good part...
Food: we tried the much anticipated Ube French Toast and my gosh is it a sight to see the colors are mesmerizing and the flavor was just right! I ordered the Orange Chicken salad (trying to be good lol) I was not disappointed one bit. I was a bit afraid he orange chicken would be to "orangey" (tangy and over powering of orange flavor) but I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor. Best for last, the Pork Belly Rice bowl... WOW! packed with flavor and the tenderness was unreal!
You know your girl had to try a cocktail!
Drinks: Ly-Gee &T cocktail was refreshing and on the sweeter side I absolutely loved it! Tried the Cappuccino and the flavor was great the only let down was the foamy milk design was not there :( final drink was a hit as well the Cucumber Chia Seed Limeade yum!
Ratings: Ube French Toast: 10/10 Orange Chicken Salad: 7/10 Pork Belly Rice Bowl: 10/10 Ly-Gee & T: 9/10 Cappuccino: 8/10 Cucumber Chia Seed...
Read moreWe were looking somewhere that we can bring our dogs where one has difficulties walking and we use a cart to bring him around. Toast was a great and convenient place to go for this! The outdoor seating was perfect for this as they had large umbrellas to use as shade and the spacing between tables was spacious enough for the cart.
The staff was great and super nice, they even brought out a water bowl for the dogs!
Onto the food! I have been to the Costa Mesa location, and was excited to hear a closer one opened near me. I really enjoyed the food at the CM one, and the Tustin location did not disappoint my craving. The food is consistent at both locations, all wonderfully cooked with fairly large portions.
Ube Toast- It was cooked perfectly, a good balance of sweetness and tart (with the blueberries and sauce). It was battered/coated with egg as well.
Pork Belly Rice- this dish was delicious but for me the pork belly was just a tad too oily where the oil stayed on the tongue. If you eat it with the achara, it balanced it well, but wished there was more of it!
Cubano Sandwich- this was a classic version of the sandwich where it came with plantain chips instead of fries. The plantain had a great balance to the sandwich with its hint...
