I really wanted to like this place which is why I went twice even after the first visit was not great. Today we went a second time and got two meals to-go since the service was poor. This place has been open for over a month now (we didn’t want to go when they first opened because we figured they’d be super busy and overwhelmed). At our first visit, we had four different servers/waitstaff, which was a little annoying because everyone just blamed the other person for the things we were missing. on their menu, they have a Jalisco burrito and it says clearly. “choice of meat” so, I ordered a chorizo burrito I wanted to confirm with the lady taking our order that Chorizo was indeed an option and she just cut me off saying “yes yes chorizo burrito”. When I got the burrito it was a breakfast burrito with eggs and chorizo. I was upset because this is exactly why I wanted to take a few extra seconds to be clear on what I wanted to confirm it was something they offer. A different waitress had brought our order to the table and left and then the same waitress that took our order came and asked if “everything was okay”. I told her no that my burrito had been eggs and that it wasn’t what I ordered but that I would eat it anyways (I hate wasting food, and figured they’d throw it away if I sent it back). But she quickly took my plate and blamed it on the innocent young waitress that had brought our food and said “oh yeah sorry that girl is new and yeah our chorizo burritos always come with egg, but I’ll talk to the kitchen and explain what you’d like”. Even though that was a nice response, why didn’t she do that to begin with? Why was she blaming someone else, (that had only brought us our food) when she was the one that actually took our order? Anyways we ate and the bill was brought to us by a 4th waitress we hadn’t seen, we looked over the bill and saw a charge for “$3.99 - Open Food”. I asked her what is this $3.99 open food charge? She said “oh it’s for the chorizo burrito special request”. Mind you the burrito had rice beans chorizo cheese and sour cream and lettuce it’s not like it was full of just meat. The chorizo was horrible over cooked and just tasted like cumin and salt. I asked her to see the menu and she brought one to me and I pointed out to her how it clearly states how the burrito comes starting with “choice of meat”. I asked her isn’t chorizo a choice of meat? She the. Replied “well, it’s a Premium Meat and it has an up charge”. FYI that’s totally fine with me a lot of places do that and yes meat is expensive (but chorizo is ground pork, not expensive like beef) I asked here where does it say that there’s “Premium Meats? Or an up charge of them? I told her that even the lady that took my order never mentioned anything about an up charge for “premium meats”. She didn’t have anywhere to point to on the menu, because nowhere on the menu. does it state that there are premium meats or an up charge! So she refunded the $3.99 charge. Our second visit was today and we ordered takeout since the service last time left a lot to be desired. We ordered a Carnitas plate which they forgot to include the tortillas or any sauces at all. The Carnitas were super greasy just a weird texture no actual identifiable pieces of pork just like a paste. I ordered tacos, El Carbone, which should be grilled chicken tacos however what I got were greasy tacos and some tomato sauce chicken. They didn’t offer any veggies for the tacos. We didn’t have any salsas or limes or napkins. We didn’t even eat it. My husband ended up taking it back and that was a whole other issue with the young man there. :( What a waste of time money and effort. I think two chances is pretty fair. Had one of those two times been good I’d give them a third chance. Don’t go but if you do take a salt shaker they don’t...
Read moreI suggested this restaurant for dinner for my husband and my mother-in-law visiting from Arizona. After ordering, my mother-in-law noticed the specials board, which had quesabirria, so I asked if it was too late to change my order. Our waitress, who had advised us she was new, said she had already submitted our order, so okay, I will be happy with what I ordered. Then she brought the dinners for my husband and my mother-in-law but not mine. Okay, I expect it will be delivered soon. After 5 minutes or so I encourage them to eat their meals while they are still warm. Mine still doesn't show up. The menu advised that burritos come with beans and rice, so the burrito both my husband and I ordered had rice and beans in it with the meat but we anticipated rice and beans on the side as well. Nope!
I get that our waitress was new and certainly not responsible for the menu discrepancies, but my hubby was bummed that he did not get a side of rice and beans in addition to what was in his burro Jalisco, as I would have been as well. After a good 5-10 minutes, I told my hubby and mother-in-law to go ahead and eat while it was still warm.
When they came by our table to ask if everything was okay, we advised them I had not received my dinner and I no longer wanted it as they were nearly half way done eating theirs. They did ask what they could do to make it right, but seriously? I don't want to be eating my dinner when everyone else is finished eating? Wth? Who would want that? They did bring me a shot of tequila since I was drinking a margarita and I told them that I guess I will just drink my dinner but I am hungry.
They eventually brought my burro Jalisco, but I advised them I would not eat it as I refused to pay for it and it's a matter of principle at this point. I admit, I did drink the shot of tequila they brought me as an apology but I refused to drink the margarita or the dinner they finally brought me as a matter of principle. As a general rule, I refuse to eat what I don't pay for as I am not looking for a handout, just the meal and service I am paying for. Unfortunately, while I would still like to return to this restaurant as I have liked the food I have had before, I can guarantee my husband will not permit me to return as both of the experiences we have had have been negative. The first time we were here, I noticed when they cashed me out that there was a surcharge for using my credit card so I had to pay cash to avoid paying extra.
I just want to stress that while the food and drink I have experienced have been the best I've had in Twin Falls, there are issues that supersede that. Poor service is inexcusable, and I'm still hungry so I guess I will continue drinking my dinner!!! And be pissed!
Oh, and there was a child screaming the whole time we were there, I'm okay with that, I get it, but my hubby and his mother were annoyed as hell and I had to listen to them complaining
Also my husband had a chicken bone in his burrito.
To be fair, they did end up comping our entire meal but it was an experience I do not...
Read moreWe called in advance to let them know there would be a party of 12. They shoved 12 of us into an alcove so small, the servers couldn't walk to the far end of tables. We had to pass food and drink. Yet tables along a wall, that could of been set up for 12, and the server would of been able to reach every one with ease.
I Ordered the Fajitas. At every Mexican Restaurant Ive eaten at around the country. the Fajitas arrive from the kitchen still sizzling. Not this time. Yes the plate was hot. But not sizzling. Then I had to sit thru the passing of everyone orders from the server, a round of drink refills. And still no tortillas. By the time they arrived, the Fajitas were all but cold. Thankfully the tortillas were fresh and hot
3 stars for food , due to temperature. 4 stars for service. The staff was friendly snd efficient. Like I said they could of set for a party of 12 better than they did. . 3 stars for Atmosphere. Felt cramped with 11 others crammed into...
