1356 Public House — Restaurant in Twin Oaks

Food is great. Service was TERRIBLE. Probably the worst service I have ever received. So party of 3 soon to be 4. We ordered 3 drinks and a cheese pizza. 5 minutes later waiter comes back and asks us to repeat our drinks order again, fine, stuff happens. We then order 3 plates of wings & boneless with different sauces and all. She didn’t write down a thing, we thought she got it but then they come and she brought it out all wrong. Wings that were supposed to be boneless are not. She takes it back. The 4th person comes and orders a vodka tonic. The right wings come this time and our pizza is gone so we ask for fries. She asked if regular or seasoned we said regular, she brought out seasoned. Had her take them back. At this point we just laugh. 4th person asks for water, one of us reminded her of his vodka tonic. Water comes, still no vodka tonic. I asked for a Budweiser, she goes draft or bottle? I said bottle cause I know I don’t like draft. Of course she brought draft. The right fries come this time, we ordered a quesadilla. She asked regular or Cajun? I go with Cajun. Never arrived. We gave up and asked for the check when she then apologized for her terrible service but something happened with her boyfriend and that threw her off. I understand stuff happens, but if you know you’re being lousy write your damn orders! I’ll go back cause the food was great once brought out correct, but I pray to God I will get...

My fiancé and I Googled “burgers near me” and this place pulled up in the list. It was one of very few that were open currently, after Corona, so it got our vote. We dipped in to find a little bar/restaurant that shocked the hell out of us‼️‼️‼️ The bartender, Sue (if my receipt reads correctly) knew her stuff. Having moved from Alaska in November, I had been unable to find a Cadillac Margarita like they made back home... until today❣️👊🏻🎉 Not only did she hold down the bar and the whole restaurant but she handled our service like a boss. My honey requested to sample some of the wing sauces and she was happy to oblige. He was excited to find many to his liking (aka HOT as all get out) and even more elated when they tasted even better on the wing! Evidently they coat the wings, fry them, coat them again and fry it again so… I don’t have to tell you it’s amazing! Additionally, I had THE BEST fried mushrooms 🍄🍄 I’ve ever had in my entire life. And then, but wait there’s more, I ordered grilled shrimp 🍤 🍤 off the appetizer menu and they were grilled to perfection. Plus...!!!... the steak 🥩 skewers were so DA BOMB that we regret not ordering multiples. IDK who the chef 👩‍🍳 is behind the scenes but they do not miss a beat at this place. We will be back and ordering more than we can eat so that we take home lots of left overs...

We were seated right away but with the size of their dining room we ended up very close to the front door. So just a heads up that if you go when it’s 8° outside you’ll probably be cold during dinner. ;-) It’s Mother Nature’s fault. Tons of TV‘s if you’re here to also catch a game! Our waiter took about 10 minutes to initially stop by our table but was pretty solid after that, cleaning up plates and grabbing refills periodically. Even split our bill when we asked without complaint. There are a boatload of choices on the menu! If you can’t find something that sounds good, you probably should have stayed home. From the prime rib sandwich to the pretzel bunned grilled cheese and my mushroom and Swiss STUFFED burger, most everything was delicious! My stuffed burger came with two fried mushrooms stabbed into the bun - super awesome surprise! Burger was great. My wife’s 1356 chicken deluxe sandwich was just “okay” according to her. Our friends enjoyed their meals. We all agreed that the seasoned fries are a different experience than we expected. There is a sweetness in the seasoning that we didn’t expect; we’d probably just get regular fries or even tots next time. I’d gladly go back, though likely on a warmer day. They have lots of great sounding things elsewhere on the menu so I know I’d find something...
