On a snowy night, after a long day of work, I said: "Enough! Not making dinner tonight; I'm picking up some to-go and we're going to have a little feast." We settled on Italian and I really didn't want pizza again, since I stick to a low-carb diet. We decided to splurge and get take-away from Casa D'Angelo's in Macedonia (sister location to the one in Twinsburg). . We ordered eggplant parm and chicken marsala. Since the pasta side was penne (which we don't like) we decided to opt for one healthy side (asparagus) and one comfort-food side (fries). On the way home, the food smelled good enough on the back seat, and our mouths started to water. We rushed inside, hoping to unpack the meals, put them on dinner plates, warm them quickly in the microwave, and sit down to a delicious meal. . Well, sadly, as soon as I opened the boxes, my heart started to sink. The entrees and sides were sloshing around in containers that were too big for them. When I opened the eggplant, instead of seeing an eye-popping portion nestled in some pasta and drenched with marinara, I saw a double-stack of eggplant parm shifted to one side of the container, the majority of which was empty space. The asparagus was even worse. We were given seven stalks, which was an OK portion; however, they were placed by themselves in a container that could have fit a quart of Chinese food layered over a pint of rice. Imagine my chagrin when I opened the box, forgetting for a moment what we had ordered, wondering why the box was so light, and then seeing seven sparse stalks of asparagus all bunched together on the side of the container--how unappetizing! The whole presentation was just lacking. The CHEAP PLASTIC SILVERWARE was tossed into a plastic bag along with napkins (that were wet with sauce that had flowed out of the container by the time we got home). The food should have been packaged in a paper bag with a handle (a la Wasabi's) and the plastic ware, if they needed to include it at all, should not be loose in the bad and the cheapest possible (think TACO BELL SPORK!) TAKE-OUT ORDER WAS A MESS WHEN WE GOT IT HOME. . Sadly, the EGGPLANT PARMIGIANA WAS RUBBERY! I don't know how else to describe it. I literally had to get a serrated knife to cut thru the end of it. I couldn't chew it. I decided that after what we paid for it I would try a piece from the middle, which was edible. However, from a long plank of eggplant only about 1/3 in the middle was good; the 1/3s on each end were awful. The Chicken Marsala was a bit better; at least the portion was good size. . I don't expect CIPRIANI's at these prices, but I do expect better than Pizza Hut pasta. It was, but only slightly. We've dined in here about a year ago and the food was much better. Maybe their regular chef was snowed in tonight....
Read moreCalled on a Friday and was able to secure a reservation for that evening. We have had several recommendations for the restaurant so wanted to try it. We ordered a bottle of Quilt and to our surprise we were asked if we wanted him (the server) to serve it or if we wanted to. He did pour the first glasses but never touched the bottle after that. We originally ordered the sausage stuffed peppers and wedding soup as appetizers but was told 5 minutes after ordering that they didn't have the stuffed peppers. We then opted for the fresh fried mozzarella. The wedding soup was mostly broth. The mozzarella while very fresh was not hot at delivery. What was odd was that after we finished the appetizers they delivered another mozzarella (we declined) which was clearly fresh so I am unsure if we had one that was laying around or what the situation was. I ordered the cajun cream fettuccine which was nicely prepared. My husband ordered the Tutti De Mari per recommendation of the server but I have never smelled such a foul fish smell when it was delivered. We immediately sent it back and replaced with the veal marsala (15-20 minutes later). That was prepared nicely. We had tiramisu for desert, it was 3 out of 5. Overall, with better service I would consider returning as every restaurant has a bad...
