This rating is in two parts, as half of the brew-pub idea is working, and half needs some fixing on Mt. Carmel's part. Beer = 5 stars. These folks make some great beers, many of which are not available except on tap, and for most of those you have to come here to enjoy them Food= 1.5 stars. This is clearly not working. A place like this should be able to manage decent burgers, and they didn't. My "medium" Mt. Carmel burger, one of their signature entrees, looked decent enough (see photos) but was anything but. It was overcooked to the point of being quite well done, yet still managed to be greasy. The $1 added mushrooms were quarter-cut instead of sliced (try that yourself-NOT) and all fell off. They practically bounced they were so rubbery. The $1 added bacon was burned and broken, tasteless. It did come with potato chips, these likely were Lay's from a luncheon-sized bag, and the most edible part of my meal. The wait staff was great - the beer wonderful. I hope they get a new "chef", until then avoid the burgers. Update: August 2022, Wing Week. It was a Friday, and it was quite busy. Our waiter was nice, but either a bit inexperienced, or had too many tables to tend. I was not asked if I wanted a second beer (the first came before we'd ordered dinner) until well after finishing dinner. My requested ice water never materialized. The beer is still first rate, the wings nice and meaty but the sauce was unremarkable. The B.L.T. salad is excellent. Verdict: great beer, the food still needs some tweaks.

Mt. Carmel Brewing Company has been around for 20 years! With so many breweries coming (and now going) in Cincinnati, it's worth noting that Mt. Carmel is still doing their thing and doing it well. My wife and I stopped in for lunch recently. Their outdoor space is better than ever, and it's a great place for a meal or to hang out over a couple of pints. For lunch, I enjoyed the Cincy Hot Sandwich, a hand-breaded fried chicken breast topped with their signature HOT Denzel wing sauce, country-style slaw, and blue cheese dressing ($14). The sauce had a pretty good amount of heat, but the slaw and blue cheese tamed it down a bit. Overall, a really solid sandwich. My wife and I also split the G.O.A.T. salad ($11 full / $6.50 half). This combination features spinach, goat cheese, red onions, cherry tomatoes, avocado, and candied walnuts, accompanied by a house-made balsamic dressing. This was a great salad, highly recommended! My wife enjoyed the carnitas tacos ($13 for 2). The house-braised pork shoulder is super tender and comes topped with grilled jalapenos, queso fresco, pico de gallo, and salsa verde. Great tacos!

We are traveling through the Cincinnati area but wanted to stay out of downtown today so we looked for a brewery close to where we are staying. This had some nice reviews so we decided to check it out. Happy we did. The parking lot was a nice large concrete lot with additional parking on the side and back. We were greeted promptly and shown to our table. It was hot today so we opted to sit inside. It was very comfortable. Or server was there quickly, took our orders, brought our food when it was ready, all within reasonable time. She also checked on us frequently. We ordered some of their fried cheese curds and fried pickle chips to go with my amber ale and my wife's seltzer. We enjoyed it all so much that we ordered more food. My wife had a salad and I had the Goat burger. We both enjoyed our meals. While reading some of the other reviews before we went I wondered about the burgers. Folks called them dry and not cooked to medium as they like them. Then I saw that they are smash burgers. It's kind of hard to cook a smash burger to medium, at least I've never experienced it. Check the out. We enjoyed it.

My family all met up here for drinks on a Saturday afternoon. Everyone (except me, DD) bought multiple beers, kids had fun running around and we even got to watch a wedding. The part that ruined it, an employee coming over and asked us to move because we were seated in a waitress’ section and they wanted to seat there. That’s fine, if we weren’t paying customers. My family spent over $100 on drinks alone in the hour or so we were there, not once did that server come over and offer to grab us drinks, we just kept going up to the bar. If that is a waiter’s section, they should have came over and said “Hi my name is so and so, this is my section, so if there’s anything I can grab for you let me know!” We would have been happy to order any drinks via a server. When the employee came over and asked this of us, we were literally 5 min or less from leaving, and one of my family members said “oh yeah man, we’re almost done (gestures to what’s left of the drinks) can we finish up?” And the employee said “can you like move over there and do it?” To which we just reiterated “let us just finish our drinks and you can have the tables.” We went to dinner afterward where everyone remarked that they really enjoyed their drinks and the atmosphere until that employee came along. The situation could have been handled a lot better. Maybe a server should have just been grabbing drinks for us all along rather than everyone going up to the bar, that’s something in the operation that needs to be evaluated. If you want to run like a restaurant with a hostess station and all, then operate like a restaurant with the server coming over to greet their tables and take some drink orders and let them know what’s up. If we treated it like a brewery with open seating and got it wrong, send a server to tell us what’s up “hey guys this is my section I’ll be taking care of you” but don’t send and employee to kick us out of tables for that area to be sat, it was already seated and should have been treated as such.

The drinks were great! Atmosphere was amazing, it was fun...

Recommended to us from a family member we drove out of our way to visit and this is our experience: My wife and I came in sat at the empty bar with no one inside. I brought a coney dog into eat didn’t see any signs. So I took two bites as the Mgr walked over with a big grin and did not say anything to me or my wife. Around 7-10 more mins the bar tender came over to me and my wife. (She had short brown ish black hair) she asked how we even got here , implying we were bums or something.I said well, we walked in a joking manner.. She said in a really rude and disrespectful voice well I don’t allow anyone in my Bar or my restaurant to eat here , with out eating my food. I replied in a very calm polite manner well mam we are both going to try your beer and my wife is going to eat .. and she kept hassling us to leave so we both got up and left… The Mgr followed us out side to see if we walked or drove our car. so I backed up to speak with him and told him how disappointed and disrespectful his staff member was and he didn’t say anything or do anything about it just said enjoy your trip.. not sure who the owner is but hope he or she will see this post and realize what goes on during the day time hours. My wife and I are both extremely successful business people and this is no way to treat people or...
