Beer 4 ⭐ Atmosphere/Staff 5⭐ Food 1 😖
My overall experience of Unity brewing was good. The beer was very good, the wait staff were very helpful and friendly and the atmosphere was cool. Which makes it so disappointing for me to say this, but the food was very, very bad! I will never get the food here again.
I ordered a "gourmet" burger for $15. The description and price made me think that I was going to get a well seasoned, grass-fed, fresh made hamburger. What I got was an obviously pre-packaged, frozen burger patty that was probably purchased at Costco in bulk and reheated for my order. It was not fresh, had no seasoning and was as dry as could possibly be. The chef asked us how we liked the food and I was honest that I didn't like it very much, which surprised me when he reacted in a way that made me think that he already knew the food wasn't very good and they serve it anyway. "Yeah, that's kind of what we're going for here" or "that's typically the response we get" was along the lines of his reply. Not to mention he didn't follow up with questions asking why I thought the food wasn't very good or how they could have done better. Just kind of like, "Well that's just how it is." Very odd response and very concerning to me from a customer's perspective.
I really want to bring this to attention of the owner because the beer was very good so I can't believe that the same person in charge of the brewing is in charge of the food. I would seriously consider hiring a new head chef that knows how to make a good gourmet burger if you are going to charge those prices, because I would have rather saved my money and gone to burger king across the street. The food is honestly better there and half the cost of...
Read moreI’ve came here a couple of times. The first time I came here I was seated at the bar and had a great time talking to the bartender and had the time of my life. The second time I came, I was kind of disappointed. The food and drink were great. But the ordering is a bit confusing.
Initially when you walk in there’s a sign that says please seat yourself, we’ll be with you. Which apparently only applies to tables? Or maybe not because people were going to the end of the bar to order. I don’t mind having to order something at a specific place, but don’t write on the sign that someone will be with you. If I was supposed to order at the end of the bar then have the wait staff say that? I sat down assuming someone would be with me only to have no one come over or even acknowledge us (even if someone said I’ll be with you in a min) for an awkward amount of time. After someone eventually did come over to wait on us, we weren’t told to go over there for future orders. Meanwhile people who were regulars were greeted and served without moving from their seats. So. I’m honestly confused.
Maybe to help future customers make your entrance sign, please order at the front. And put little signs on the bar to direct them to the register to order?
I’m real torn because the food and brews are worth returning for. But the lack of direction makes me hesitant to tell...
Read moreStopped here for dinner and beer for the first time since their recent opening. Not a large place, but great decor/vibe, open kitchen behind the bar, and a great location right on Rt30 between Greensburg and Latrobe. Outdoor seating you can park right up to (entire parking lot is within ~50' of the storefront) which is great if you have dogs with you, they can hang out in the car right next to your table 🙂. The beer was great - I tried 6 different ones that evening - my only wish is that they offered actual "sampler flights" like most brewpubs with 3-4oz pours. Their smallest are 8oz, which are just too large for someone like myself who likes to try all of the beers during a visit. The food menu isn't extensive, but everything on it sounds/is great - our party of 5 came close to ordering one of everything on the menu - I think the only items we didn't get were ones they had run out of (already, at 5pm??). Everything we had was great! We will definitely be back when we're in town for dog agility trials - it's a super-convenient place to stop at the...
