If a restaurant or bakery advertises one price and charges you a different one is that ok? I happen to not think so. This happened to me today at French Express in Latrobe and when I pointed it out to the worker they were very dismissive saying it’s ringing up right the prices written are wrong. I had assumed I would be charged what was written on all the price tags in the case- NO! I normally would chalk this up as just a bad morning but this is a place I was a frequent repeat customer. So I was irritated!!!
I asked to speak to the manager and she said we don’t have any managers just an owner and she said he is busy right now. So I paid the bill and called the bakery alittle later and asked to speak to the owner. I told the owner what happened but he didn’t care either.
I mean I don’t know if it’s a big deal to anyone else but it is to me. One item marked said $3 but when it rang up it rang up $3.10 and another was supposed to be $8.25 but it rang up as $10.50. This is not tax it’s just the items? I don’t think they should be allowed to do this but I apparently I am the only one who noticed or said something or thought it was disturbing.
The owner really shocked me more than the faulty pricing - I got him on the phone finally. He was rude and yelling ( in very broken English) and kept saying what I was asking about is not true to just shut up about his prices!!!But I had just been there and literally everything I bought rang up a different price than it was tagged. And they charged me the higher price. I tried to explain this to him but he wouldn’t let me talk! He never apologized and I was really bothered by this experience I told him he should fix that and he hung up. I called him back thinking it was an accident- no accident he hung up again only this time I understand the broken language and verbiage and it was so awful! I called him back to address his language to a paying customer and he hung up again! 😡 Deplorable!!!
Well this repeat customer is no longer one!!! I am truly sickened by how he runs his business. What could have been fixed and solved easily became a much bigger issue.
In my opinion don’t go to French Express- in Latrobe unless you want to be charged whatever they feel like charging that day! I can assure you I definitely won’t be going...
Read moreMy mother & I visited the French Express for the first time & to say that it exceeded our expectations would be an understatement.
Chef Christophe is an artist without equal - there's no other way to describe him. The alchemy of his unparalleled skills, fresh ingredients, & attention to the smallest details adds up to an experience that outshines other all other eating establishments in the area.
His expertise in haute cuisine isn't just talk, it's an undeniable fact. His salmon crepes were the most delicious dish we've eaten in ages - light, savory, & incredibly tasty.
And if you are a fan of sweets, his selection of hand made pastries are beyond compare From the flavorful lemon and strawberry tarts, the velvety smooth vanilla custard of his cream puffs, the salty-sweet chocolate-caramel glazed eclairs, to the melt in your mouth macaroons that were lighter than air (we had no idea that this was how proper macaroons should taste - Chef Christophe has spoiled us forever).
On a more personal note, Mollie our server couldn't have been nicer & more generous to us at a time we needed it most. Unbeknownst to her, my father had passed away at the end of May & her kindness, welcoming nature, and infectious smile made our visit one we can't stop talking about. In a world were 'customer service' seems to be all but forgotten, Mollie set the high watermark when it comes to goodwill toward strangers.
It was an incredibly pleasant surprise to find an eatery like the French Express in the middle of a sport bar haven like Latrobe, Pennsylvania. I would I would encourage everyone both far and wide to prioritize a trip to the French Express as soon as you can. I promise, you'll become a regular upon your...
Read moreUpdate 5/17: I had a pleasant conversation with a manager regarding my concern, but overheard the baker/owner making rude remarks about our discussion in the background. This unprofessional behavior was completely unacceptable and left me feeling so uncomfortable that I no longer wish to return. In addition, the writing was from the baker/owner himself. Other reviews (google and yelp) address concerns about his rude and unethical behavior. Boulanger grossier!
5/16 - I am a frequent customer of this establishment and I was truly disappointed with the cake my husband purchased for my birthday yesterday. The cake was overly soggy, and the writing was poorly done, with an obvious misspelling of "Birthday." I expected a much more professional appearance from a bakery. Sadly the cake became the joke of the night.

A year ago Cute little cafe. Staff was friendly and desserts were tasty. However, I had the Cuba sandwich and it was super salty (not sure if it was the ham or the pork). Sadly I was not able to eat it. But will definitely visit again for...
