El Pacifico — Restaurant in Upper Deerfield Township

We heard about El Pacifico from friends that love the ceviche. This was our first experience with El Pacifico. We ordered take out and tried several dishes. We generally like Mexican food, but most times it is too heavy. This was impressive. Flavorful, light, and very pleasing to the eye. All the flavor and depth of traditional Mexican, but much more. Almost a novelle Mexican but with more than ample portions. We shared: Shrimp Burrito; flavorful and fresh tasting. Vegetarian Burrito; my wife’s choice, delicious. Tradicional shrimp tacos; great. Tradicional fish tacos; like the shrimp tacos, great presentation and flavor. Guacamole was well balanced; my wife says it is the best she has had. She is an “avocado head”. Pulpo/octopus was OK, I really like pulpo, this was alright but did not stand out like the rest of the dishes. The staff was very courteous and pleasant. El Pacifico is near the Upper Deerfield Shoprite. Initially we thought it was a little pricey compared to some of the other Mexican restaurants, but there is no comparison in quality. Do not go there!! Worst service ever!! We went there with excitement and were greeted with the is no horchata... Ok no big deal. We ordered 2 pineapple drinks. We got chips, and ordered oysters as an appetizer... Waitress comes back about 5 minutes later, informs us that they are out of oysters... Ok no big deal. We ordered a "vuelve a la vida" cocktail... Waitress says there is not any of that type of shrimp but that they can make things that use a different type of shrimp... Ok so we ordered 2 agua chiles, she assured us that they have that. As we were waiting, I asked for more chips... About 30 minutes later, waitress comes back and informs us that they can't make agua chiles and says it with a smirk. Ok this is now a big deal. We decide not to stay anymore. Worst part is, owner comes out and charged us for the 2 drinks!! Of course we paid them but what type of business does that. I guess he sees nothing wrong. If I was him, I would have went to the table and apologized for the inconvenience and offered a way to make up for the bad experience. Don't waste your time nor money on this type of place. There is never an excuse for this type of incompetence...

After a hard day at work, I had El Pacifico on my mind...I had been there and the burrito was amazing....the second time, the tacos weren't life changing but they were good. The third time today....I ordered the fried shrimp and fish...and as an after thought, french fries....I got my order and all I saw was french fries and more french fries....now, I like french fries but when I opened the container didn't see the shrimp or the fish....they were buried under the french fires....and the fish were as big a McDonalds' chicken mcnuggets....the shrimp were skimpy as well....And I paid $22.00 for this! i have gone to restaurants and paid $22.00 for shrimp and it was well worth the money....I felt ripped off and told myself in the car...."well, I won't go there again." I dug under the mountain of french fries and fished out the fish and shrimp....there were maybe 6 rather small shrimp and 4 fish mcnuggets....Yes....I know better, so I'll do better next time.....They could have been so...
