Read moreI will start this off by saying that we didn’t plan on going here. Our original destination was a brewery and restaurant in East Petersburg that had fantastic hot dogs, but has also far outgrown its space. We had both heard of Joe’s, but neither of us had ever gone, so we made the trip and it was SO worth it.
The interior is on the quaint side - no frills, but are any frills needed for a hot dog and wing restaurant?
My girlfriend ordered chicken fingers and we split a side of fries. I ordered two plain hot dogs and topped them with the ketchup they keep at the table. My girlfriend raved about the chicken while I raved to her about the hot dogs. The fries were phenomenal as well. If you’re like me and you love hand-cut fries, go to Joe’s - you won’t be sorry.
The hot dogs are ever so slightly longer than the bun, which is just fine by me. They’re also cooked well-done - I LOVE my hot dogs cooked this way. They had a good (but not ridiculous) snap when bitten into, and the flavor is spot-on. If there’s one nit to pick, I would say that the plain hot dog buns don’t really do these hot dogs justice - a slightly more artisanal bun would be enjoyed and welcomed here.
The next time I think about going to the other place, I’ll skip the hassle and go to Joe’s. I’ve been dreaming of their hot dogs for a couple of days now, and I’m sure I’ll...
Read moreOrdered take out of 20 wings, staff was friendly, and wings were still very got and fresh after a 20 minute drive home. Be aware the containers may be extra saucy as I had some sauce drip out, but that is more on me and did not affect my rating.
Suicide: Easily my favorite wing. Spicy as promised, but not too much for me. Had a great flavor, but lacked in sauce. Then again, may of dripped out the container.
Mango Habanero: Very sweet and spicy(not as much as suicide). While it was a little to sweet for me, I still enjoyed it overall.
Joe’s Special: While I wanted to enjoy this based off reviews, I honestly don’t know how to even describe the flavor when there was none. While there was a lot of sauce, there was no flavor at all for these wings. Maybe like a sweet and spicy?
BoomBBQ: I am not from PA, so I did research and see it is a popular sauce from Sheetz. The best way to describe it is like a tangy mayo based sauce, with the addition of bbq for this version. It was okay at best, but I did enjoy the bbq part alot more.
Overall I enjoyed about half the flavors, 1 was fine, and 1 had no flavor at all. I would go back again, trying different flavors as they have tons of...
