Wedding Cake: choice of flavors and taste: A; Value for money: C; Attention to detail: B
When we first met the owners of Louie’s Bakery at a vendor exhibit we were impressed with their choice of cake flavors and their friendliness- so much so, that we decided to select them for our wedding cake. They loved the fact that they have special family recipes for their icings like the Bridal Buttercream which are not super sweet like some bakeries. They also have a superior raspberry filling that uses fresh fruit and takes several passes of straining to get it perfected. We found the people we met at the shop to be friendly and helpful. A few things we were disappointed in though: We needed to make two trips to the shop to design our cake. For some reason the designer was not available on our first trip and we were not told about this ahead of time. The other thing is that we paid top dollar for our cake, but when it was delivered, we noticed a number of imperfections like the cake colors bleeding into each other. This was not noticeable to most at a distance though. We also ordered a large tray of Italian cookies based on what we saw at the vendor exhibit. When we got them on our wedding day, they were not the small carefully decorated cookies that we consider traditional Italian cookies. The regular sized cookies, looked like something we could have done ourselves at home - and given the price we paid, we felt let down. Louie’s does have some great products and our cake tasted great, but they lack in consistency and communication we also...
Read moreI am so appalled, disappointed and disgusted with this bakery. I ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday. I requested the cake to have a "Hello Kitty" design and I also requested that the cake to be chocolate with Caramel cream filing. The design of the "Hello kitty" looked like a mouse. When we cut the cake the cake was chocolate with vanilla filing. It was dry and not tasty. I was so shocked and my daughter was so upset. This is what she wanted for her birthday and she couldn't eat it because she said it was so "nasty". I sent an email to the bakery with photos about our experience and I was apalled by her response. She did not try to diffuse the situation or try to come to some type of resolution. She accused me of not being honest and said that she couldn't believe that we felt the cake was not tasty that I just added that because it sounded " like an adult made an observation about the eyes of the character slightly to close together and adult blew it out of proportion and was insulting. She also said " Most parents who order elaborate cakes for children's parties are just trying to impress the adults." I was appalled by her response not to try to work out a solution but instead she insulted me. I will never purchase anything from their shop again. I will also spread the word about their rude...
Read moreI wish I could give less than 1 star to save others. We were told when we did the wedding cake tasting that they could do an anniversary cake for us instead of us saving the top tier. When we called to order our anniversary cake they told us "they didn't feel like going up to the barn to retrieve our paperwork to see the details of our cake". So we told them what we wanted. The cake was nothing like our wedding cake, the decorator took creative liberty and added flowers to the cake but didn't put the sanding sugar and glitter that we asked for. Not only that but the cake was dry and the filling was wrong. I called to talk to someone regarding the cake and was told the owners weren't there so I had to leave a message. After 3 messages I finally got a call back and was promised a refund. When we called 3 weeks later to double check on the refund because we hadn't received it we were told that it would be mailed after the Thanksgiving rush. It's now been almost 3 months, they stopped communicating with us and we still haven't...
