The Boom Venue — Restaurant in Urbana

Was there on a recent Saturday night where the festive crowd was mostly playing Bingo. I was there as a pre-theater dinner per the Smile Politely's positive review of "fried balls in Champaign-Urbana" -- not testicles, if that's what you're thinking. The Boomerang's balls with a creamy potato/onion/bacon filling were indeed very good, but the two sandwiches we ordered were not only sub-par, obviously cooked from something other than scratch, but I was charged for a chicken sandwich which came with fries and slaw but the sides never arrived. I suppose I could have asked for them, but I don't really know why the waitress or kitchen would not give me what comes with the sandwich especially without my stating that. My friend got her sides. The chicken sandwich was a small piece of chicken, or more accurate a sort of large chicken nugget, filling less than half the space of the sourdough bread, which was not exactly fresh. It wasn't poorly cooked, just not really what I was expecting for $15. Had to ask more than once for refills of my water, and had to track down the waitress to pay. Neither the food or the atmosphere was compelling to me, and next to our table was a wall display of WWII photographs, including a swastika. And less than 2 days later, someone tried to use the CC information with the card I paid at Boomerang's (and no place within the last 3 weeks) to purchase $5K of online stuff at two different retail stores. These charges were declined by my robo-credit card fraud department at the credit card, but I do not recommend this restaurant for anything, unless you ask for the table away from the swastika, order only the fried balls, and...

Oh my goodness!!! What a fantastic place to go and have a great time. This was my first experience being here. Stopped in to get dinner after a very long day of training with ILEAS. A group of 5 came in hungry, tired and brain overloaded with information. We was asked if we was going to participate in BINGO! It was absolutely FREE to play and it was hilarious!!! There was several 'regulars' there which made it even more hilarious. Turns out they do this EVERY SATURDAY from 6-8pm. There is (I think) 8 chances to win??!!! The food was great as well and the server was fantastic. She really knew how to make the outsiders feel welcomed. I cannot wait to come back. I had the BLT this go-around, but man did their burgers look delicious! That's my next order for sure. I recommend...

Love this place! I've been here for live music and to eat. Haven't been disappointed by anything. Wednesdays they have a wing special. They're HUGE, twice as big as the wings you get from the big wing chain. They make their own sauces, too. I've tried most of them and been really happy. Forgot to mention their fries. HOLY cow, handcut fries! Yeah, they're good. Great burger, too. Lots of nice locals, very chill atmosphere, lots of TVs to watch sports. Good beer specials, too.
