Perhaps I'm biased, but GREAT food and service will always validate the worthiness of an eatery. Co-owner Janice gave me the same wonderful treatment that she does every customer, and the joy of eating here was exponentially multiplied because of the quality of that good ole' BBQ. The atmosphere was perfect, the paper towels plentiful, and the sauce, well, if I could've carried more, I could have lived on it alone! Incidentally, I stopped here 23JUN2011 for lunch while pedaling on my Trans-Texas Bicycle Odyssey and I can tell you that food and fresh, clean water are part of the essential spokes to bike touring. Evett's not only made sure those were more than fulfilled, Janice also gave me another essential spoke, which is information about what is ahead (I was cycling Eastbound on US90). I highly recommend this stop to anybody who wants a delicious meal with friendly and knowledgeable people. I made it to Sabinal City Park for the night. Thank you, Janice/Evett's BBQ! Read moreThis place was not that great. The service was fast. The staff was nice. The sausage tasted a day old and rubbery hard to chew. The potato salad was DISGUSTING! The brisket was good. The green beans were delicious. I could have eaten a whole pot of the green beans alone. The sweet tea was good. The soda machines were all out of order. The only choice of drink is homemade lemonade which tasted like water and lemons, sweet tea and unsweet tea. Tables were clean but had no signs of any covid sanitization product for the tables. The bathroom trash was overflowing and the lighting in the bathroom was extremely dim as almost no lighting at all. It was a 1 person stall. The menu on the wall was nicely written in chalk so no touching a personal menu. Bottom line all of us complained of a stomach ache after we left. We are not from the area and were expecting so much better. Seemed like the resteraunt was running with bare minimum essentials. Just enough to get by without quality food. I would...
Read moreJust ate with a friend from Michigan at Evetts in Uvalde Tx. Brisket was worth the drive from San Antonio, it fell a part as you try to pick it up with your fork. Juicy and tender, sauce was original and seemed to have some brisket droppings for added flavor, mixed with some sweet smoke hint just right. Great brisket. However, sausage was not as juicy and although it had cheese and jalapenos it was not spicy and could have been hotter, nah. It was Meh. The potato salad was sweet but again had taken sweet touch of similar flavor in brisket sauce....... maybe too much sweet.... Spanish rice TO DIE FOR, FLAKY TENDER MOIST PERFECT SEASONING...... bread fresh, fresh hot flavored jalapenos and clean and fully stocked drink bar...... there u go. I will go back and try ribs, pulled pork, and chicken. I hear they are as good...
