update**
Three of us went, my wife had the corn and crab stuffed shrimp. Three small shrimp butterflied with a small amount of stuffing on top. They where not the sized shrimp one should use for stuffing. The large portion of mashed potatoes were under seasoned. The carrots and squash were good.
We had Lobster bisque which was good and presented well. We also had the artichoke dip which did not present well. but was tasty.
I had the ribs, which were tough as leather, I did not eat but one. I tasted the enormously over sized portion of mashed potatoes. They too were under seasoned and not eaten. The succotash was ok.
The server and manager where both nice and took care of the issue properly, removing the uneaten plate of food and asking if I wanted a different meal, I did not.
The restaurant lights was to dark for my taste. I had to use the light of a phone to read the menu. We’ve been disappointed each of the last several times coming here.
17 Nov 2018 **
My wife had the crab cake sandwich, she says it was average.
I had the Louisiana Gumbo. It started with room temperature rice. The gumbo was a bit warmer. The bowl or presentation though looking nice allowed what was called soup to cool off very quickly. The bowl was wide and flat. The seasoning was insufficient and I had to add salt to give it some flavor.
My wife says her sandwich was a bit high for price to value. My soup was way over priced for what I received. Maybe six to seven dollars not the eighteen I was charged.
Employees are nice, but the food leaves much to be desired. Friday the 1st of Dec 2017. I had a gyro, the meat was overcooked and under seasoned, little hard balls of charcoal. The onions were two large pieces. I had to cut them up to make them edible. The sauce was sparce and not intense enough. The caesar salad was good.
My wife had a turkey burger. The juice from the burger soaked the bun until it looked like white bread snot. It was under seasoned. The bun was not toasted enough, however the sweet potato fries were good.
The beer and wine were good but over all not a good meal for the money.
Not being able to add an additional review, I thought I would follow up with todays visit(19 Feb 2018). I had the conch chowder, it was ok but heavy on the tomato flavor and short on conch. My wife had the lobster bisque which seamed to be missing lobster as well as warmth. Oyster crackers seamed stale. We will not be back any time soon.
I lowered my two stars rating, to one star. We will not be back any time soon. Update - 5 august 2018
We have been back several times but I need to report on todays food.
On the plus side they serve wine with a healthy pour and a good cold temperature.
My wife had the clam pizza and was very disappointed. Though it had a good chewy crust, it lacked garlicky clam flavor and clams. She was expecting a buttery clam sauce like one receives on pasta.
I had the Angus burger. It had a ratio problem between the bun and the size of the meat paddy. Usually one receives a huge bun and small paddy. Not this time. The paddy, though under cooked (I asked for rare not tartar) was not able to be held by the bun so the paddy squeezed out in three directions and broke into respective pieces. I had to cup my hands together to hold the burger while I eat. I asked for water and then again and a third time. the bartender seamed more interested in talking to coworkers then doing her job.
I have regrets leaving a twenty percent tip, which I believe, will reinforce poor performance.
The restaurant stays...
Read moreWent there last evening. Made a reservation and when asked if it was a special occasion I told them yes. Got there, seated at a table that was sticky and dirty. The place was busy but there were many empty seats. Instead of a cozy table for 2, we got a table for 4, no lit candle, nothing special. (ALL the other tables had a lit candle). Server finally came over to take our drink order which came after 10 minutes of waiting. Ran off before we could order an appetizer. Another 5 minutes go by, she comes over, takes our appetizer order but tried to run off before we stopped her to give her our dinner order. She asks us if we want bread. Yes, we said so 5 minutes later we get 2 rolls and she runs off. We had NO PLATES. We had to flag another server for plates...he said sure but never came back. If it werent for a random server going by with plates, we never would have gotten any. Appetizer came, dinner shortly after...our server was no where to be found. We wanted more drinks. Dinner was ok. Hubby said tilapia was good, although he asked for no broccoli. Crunchy crab cakes were anything but crunchy. Rather soggy. We were 3/4 through our dinner when our server finally returned, even though she had several tables nearby. Got our drinks and we asked for a dessert menu. 10 minutes later, we got it and, wanted to order peanut butter pie. She never came back. We finally flagged her down for our check because at this point, we wanted out of there. We had a gift card for half our order (our bill was 100 dollars).10 minutes later, she returned. Not ready to go back any time soon til better service...
Read moreWe came before a movie just to grab a bite and decided on appetizers. It's a seafood restaurant, so the clam chowder and lobster bisque were top of mind.
The lobster bisque was excellent. Well seasoned, clearly prepared with care as it was velvety and quite deep in flavor.
The clam chowder, not so much. It smelled and tasted heavily of bacon, and was closer to a loaded backed potato soap than a traditional clam chowder. Potatoes were mushy, it was missing chives and lacked the sort of layered flavor one would expect for a chowder.
The bread was excellent. Cold bricks of butter were an odd choice. Taking the time to whip some butter would've made more sense for a restaurant that makes it own rolls. Just an odd choice.
We ordered wings with a Thai chili. The sauce was good but clearly just drizzled on the wings instead of them actually being coated and tossed in the sauce. The wings were crispy and well-prepared but not well seasoned - if you took a bite that didn't have sauce, you were eating a plain piece of chicken. This is a technique issue IMO.
The worst dish was the calamari by a mile. It was oily and seemed to come straight from the fryer. They fried the sweet peppers which is OK, but the peppers were cut too small so you ended up with flavorless pepper chips that were weird and greasy. They had a great crisp but otherwise were really sad.
I think we'll come back for entrées. I've had the crab cakes, which are phenomenal - so I'm hoping this was just a bad night for...
