Santuccis Original Square Pizza Downingtown — Restaurant in Uwchlan Township

Unfortunately we were not impressed! We placed an advanced order (an hour before pickup) for a 4:45 pickup, so that we can pick up and be on our way. But we arrived on time and had to wait an additional 7 minutes. Pricing: when I think Large, I expect large, especially for the price. Not so much. About the size of a (full sized) 16x11 cookie sheet, the pizza was nothing to write home about. Sauce lacked flavor, cheese was meagerlly present and the dough was not risen to the expectation of a scillician style pizza. The thickness was about half of what I can order from other restaurants. We also ordered wings, which were really good. Portion sizes of each piece were very plentiful, unlike smaller portions found in other local spots. We did enjoy those and the celerry was plentiful. Howevee, for a restaurant to proclaim being home of the original square pizza, there's a lot of other competitors who outshine this flagship offering. This was our first time visiting and possibly our last time ordering pizza from them but would be open to their other offerings. Atmosphere looks to be nice. No one was dining in and those waiting for pickups continued waiting after I came for my advanced order. Outdoor seating consists of a side patio thoughtfully decorated. Staff was concise, no side talk to the customers but thankfully, no one was checking their phone (or they were doing it outside of customer visibility). So first just wanna say i really appreciate the hard work and effort from these awesome friendly workers. i went when it was a line out the door, they started telling customers they ran out of large pizzas. I got the last "large" i think. Anyhow crazy night. Good job.

But honestly idk where all the praise for santuccis came from. Its doughy even on well done, and the ingredients don't really pack the punch after the 4th bite. This pizza just doesent compare to Joeys(best well done thin pizza), Iccara, Leonies or my fav Pomodoros in downingtown. Not trying to start anything, but I personally have had multiple good experiences with this place, thus far. I think many people are just big adult babies with their own “valid” opinions of food service workers/establishments, but so far I got only positive. That’s what this world needs, the owner helped with a Doordash mixup last week and made me a fresh order even when I could care less because I’m unproblematic and understanding of a place trying to make it in this judgmental world.
