I don't often write reviews, especially negative ones, but I feel I need to on this one. Our experience at JJ Twig's last evening was quite unpleasant. Nothing against the hostess or our server-both friendly and welcoming. But, our food experience was just bad. My wife and 2 year-old daughter were there. We shared pretzel bites with cheese sauce, a house salad and a thin crust pizza. Our daughter had the mac and cheese which is one of her favorite meal items. The pretzel bites seemed like they had been frozen and they were dripping in grease. The cheese that came with them was semi-transparent liquid-what was that-it definitely didn't taste anything like cheese! Our house salad was mostly iceberg lettuce which we shared. There were probably 2 cherry tomatoes on it and perhaps 3 thin slices of red onion. It came with a creamy Italian ranch type of dressing. How much was that? When our daughter's mac and cheese arrived it was of a similar cheese as the pretzel bites. It was disgusting. We definitely couldn't get her to eat it. She also had mandarin orange slices with the meal, but these were swimming in the juice from the can they probably came from. We didn't care for the pizza, it just didn't taste right. Everything presented to us just screamed cheap and of the poorest quality. And after all of that, the the bill was quite a sticker shock-almost $60!!! We have had comparable food at other places and the caliber is so much higher for that price. I know there are positive reviews associated with this place, and I really want to support local businesses, but our experience was a really bad one and it needs to be shared. The beer selection was good so maybe have a beer there- just don't eat the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe first time is always a test. Overall experuence for me: meh.. for my sister and wife, they were generous, but this is my review based on my experience..
Met with family for my first outing to the Valley Park location. Fot in, sat down, waited..and waited...I got the wings and was not overly impressed as they were overcooked and under sauced. The fries were good and crispy, and the ranch was decent. The burger almost made up for the male server's unenthusiastic, distracted service. The wait took for what seemed like forever with no communication from our server.
Overall assessment Service: the guy needs to focus on the tables not the hostesses' job, otherwise go do that and get another server to take care of tables to make them feel the value of spending time and money to come into your place to feel like an afterthought.
Food: The little things are the big things. I know it was busy, but different food types have different cook times. Apps set the tone. Main items were good for them.
Atmosphere Good location, obviously busy. Hometown bar & grill vibe with classic wood booths and tables perfect and sturdy to hang out with friends and family. Cool history there, you can tell, but tight spacing.
The service really got on my radar with not even looking at me while asking me questions. I was on the end next to the aisle, and the guy was like right on top of me while watching the door. That stuff don't fly with me. Engage man..fill the waters and chat. You're a rep of the business, make me WANT to come back and hang out. Trust me, I'll spend more if I do.. This experience was not enough to make me want to come back and sit down there of not for the burger and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHomey neighborhood bar in a strip mall. Indoor and outdoor patio seating. Full bar. Multiple TVs to watch the game. Cash & credit cards accepted. Very friendly staff. Pleasant and relaxed vibe.
Stepping into this place is a bit like walking into a cross between a Shakey's Pizza and an Irish pub. Ambiance is relaxed and warm and less sterile than many other strip mall bars. Bar area is small but accommodates a lot of friendly banter and rooting for the favorite teams. Plenty of other seating in tables or high wooden booths.
Menu boasts a good selection of starters, salads, sandwiches, pasta, and pizza. Prices are not outrageous. Onion rings are good but not great, but what they lack in pizazz they make up for in quantity! I was expecting about half of the amount of rings I actually received! Served with what looks like a cheese sauce but apparently is more of a spicy mustard.
Pizzas come thin-crust or double-decker. While I'm curious about the double-decker (two crusts, two layers of toppings) I went with the thin crust. It was good. Crust was indeed thin and had a pleasant crispness to it. Topping quantity was good - not too much sauce, good amount of cheese. Flavor was very good.
I'd be happy to come back here again if I'm ever in the neighborhood. And little places like this make me wish I just lived in the neighborhood and could come here...
