Have been going to Verona for a few years now. Sometimes twice a week. Tonight was the worst dining experience in my 57 years of eating out. We sat for over 2 hours waiting for our food, which is not uncommon because, and I get it, its hard to find good help. So we.took our lumps and waited. Our appetizer was the buffalo shrimp. Awesome! But the waitress brought out wings. Um, we didn't order wings. But we will eat them. No problem. Then the shrimp finally comes. Ate those too. Waiting and waiting. Drank 2 pitchers of beer. (Which might explain some stuff). 2 and a half hours go by still no pizza. Almost everyone else in the place. Had their food and some that got there after we did were done and leaving. We were as patient as we thought we should be but started to get a little impatient. Pizza finally comes. And its dried out and wrong AGAIN! Probably been sitting under a warmer for half an hour. Words were exchanged. We were.told we are "needy" customers. I said some things I shouldn't have and I guess we won't be back. Long and short is I guess the customer doesn't matter anymore. Take your lumps and like it or "NO SOUP FOR YOU" If you want good food but don't care about customer service. Verona is the place to go. And for anyone that was there and heard half the story. Please keep your comments to yourself. You have no Idea how many times we have had to wait and gotten wrong orders. And we were always compensated and have NEVER complained until tonight. My wife is in tears because we truly love the place. But I won't be treated like a second class citizen. Would take an apology on both sides...
Read moreComing from Illinois and being big pizza lovers, it was hard to find a pizza place that suited our taste. We tried all of them in Valparaiso. We look for zesty but not too salty sauce...and enough to make it noticeable, thin and crispy crust, and fairly-distributed toppings. Verona's comes through 95% of the time, and when they make a mistake, they make note of it and give you a credit the next time around. Personally, I wouldn't work at Verona's because they work their butts off. I admire and respect the staff, and they respect and appreciate their customers. XO I am introducing people who have lived in Valpo their whole lives and never tried Verona's this weekend. The big G (you know what joint I'm talking about) doesn't have the care or appreciation for their customers like Verona's does. Thank you,Verona, for being here for us!!! Otherwise, we'd be pizza deprived!! Anyway...Go Bearcats, and thanks for supporting...
Read moreI thought this place would be good seeing as I don't eat pork and they had a few meat options for toppings including beef, gyro and chicken.
The pizza wasn't the worst I've had but pretty close. The dough was great if the edges weren't hard like it was microwaved. The sauce was way too tangy, made me feel as if they added some "special ingredients" they shouldn't have.
The meat and cheese was tasteless but bearable if you get me. Not greasy.Cheese sticks were salty and not crispy at all. The onion rings were bland as well, couldn't tell if there was any onions in them. I would never go back here again to be honest, my wife picked it up so I don't even know how much it cost but I know it was well over priced for what it was because we got it from Uppity Valparasio area.
OH and the wait time was 45 minutes at 5pm... Really? Nobodies ordering pizza at 5pm on the dot...
