Sharky's On the Pier — Restaurant in Venice

I gotta say, I’ve never done this in my life. I’ve never felt compelled to leave a review, but honestly my wife and I left pretty pissed off tonight. We’re in Venice for our honeymoon and have had an AMAZING time so far at bogeys, oak and stone crows nest, etc. my wife grew up coming up snd insisted on coming here saying I needed to experience it. We were excited. Made a 7 PM reso to be on the beach and see the sunset. We got sat immediately- great. We had no idea what we wanted so we looked at the menu and we totally don’t mind waiting at all. After that our server Aimee came by and said she would be right with us, but it looked like she was in a rush, overwhelmed or whatever. Another waitress asked a couple minutes after if we had been helped and then our waitress came back around. We got some drinks and ordered a salad and said we wanted to start with that. Salad came out immediately and drinks followed like 5 minutes after. Salad was great, drink was just okay. We proceeded to order dinner which I originally wanted the mojo tacos, but they ran out of it bc they were getting ready to close down for a week.. that was fine I had a back up and ordered the bang bang shrimp wrap and my wife got the 42 dollar snow crab. Before we could even finish our salad she brought out the food and made us feel rushed to put the rest of the salad on a side plate and didn’t even apologize about it, rather made a joke about us “probably wanting to make space” because we would need it. I ate a majority of my food, but it’s a little difficult for someone to eat a snow crab in a quick amount of time. she came around with our check at 8 PM, dropped it off and said “let me know if you need anything else.” We both were pissed about that. What if we wanted another drink, a dessert? No box offered, they just started cleaning their sections and doing side work all around us, making us feel rushed. I was visibly pissed, and felt compelled to leave a note for her, but I decided not to. I had to ask another waitress for a box. We left and got a drink somewhere else, and she ate the rest of her snow crab at our house. Hate to bash a business, but the steps of service in this restaurant at such a prime location are terrible. At least our waitress was. We felt unwelcome, and were not even asking for compensation. You would just figure a 2 top spending 107 dollars would be treated a little better. Every time we are at Venice Beach to look for shark teeth, we dine here. After about an hour or two of looking, I was done and ready to relax in the shade with an adult beverage. I left my kiddo at the beach to keep looking for shark teeth (as he's 16), and I had only found one tooth (it was the largest we found, just saying). I found a seat at the bar at Sharky's as I didn't want to wait 30 minutes for a table, and I ordered a nurse shark margarita. It ended up being a wonderful afternoon! I met some awesome people and made a new friend. The service was awesome as well - even though the bar and restaurant were busy, they checked on us regularly, and we had drinks quickly. Finally, my kid was done looking for shark teeth, so we ordered some food. Got the Caesar salad with chicken, conch fritters, and crispy sriracha chicken sandwich with fries. I got maybe two fritters, some fries and one bite of the sandwich as my teen was super hungry and ate most of the food. We didn't take any photos of the food - nothing special about how it looked. However, it was all pretty good, especially for a restaurant bar on the beach. The prices are on the high side, but it's the only place there, so what would you expect? Overall, was a great afternoon! A few other notes if you've never been - they do have bathrooms and showers to wash off the sand. Speaking of the sand - it's like lava as it heats up. You can walk under the pier to the water and then along the water where it's not hot. But otherwise, hot sand, so be prepared. Cute gift shop with tees and other stuff (like a beach towel in case you forget to bring one like we did!). And get there early to get parking. This visit, we tried to come during low tide which was about 11 am, so we were there around 10 am and had no issues. If you want a table, there can be a wait. They did have multiple fans set up in the outside and bar area, so it was quite comfortable out there. This visit, the water at Venice was nicer than what we experienced in FMB - which was kinda brown. :( Overall, was a great day at Venice Beach...

Cool Dawn, but your Brunette manager who wore black top and sunglasses and ruined my day😗😠🦐 you literally scared a 9 yr old!!! You made my son run away from the table and you picked up my property and yelled at me Then went on to embarrass me by showing me where to sit but she can't explain she just wants to make everyone miserable. Hhhmmm wonder what she was hiding and wouldn't provide her name ?? To her, Were coming back and before we get there you may want to get a new fresh start , get down the road to The Salty Dog or Papa John's before everyone gets to see your unprofessional unpleasant and disgusting behavior.
