Golden Egg Cafe — Restaurant in Ventura

Since moving to mid-town Ventura we frequent Golden Egg regularly. We bring friends and family from out of town and out of the country. Seldom any lines and service and staff super friendly and attentive. Recently, I went to Golden Egg on my birthday and was treated like a queen. I was upset about a family death from COVID and Jennifer was so compassionate and caring. They are like a family. Over the 8 years we have been frequenting Golden Egg, we have maybe had one or two over cooked pouched eggs, but they have always made it right and the mimosa's are great. Disappointed with the "California Salad" (1/2 avocado filled with shrimp tossed in thousand island dressing with on a bed of lettuce). I ordered "Thousand Island" on the side for the salad but the shrimp should be tossed in this dressing as is typical of the dish. When the waiter brought my food, he said they didn't toss the shrimp in the dressing (because I asked for it on the side). I said I wanted the shrimp in the dressing and for the lettuce the dressing on the side. They came back a while later saying they were OUT of thousand island dressing! (not sure what I had on the shrimp once they brought it back with something on it!) Going forward, just say you're out of dressing rather than try to fake Not planning...

I really liked this spot. Came in around 10am for brunch and it was packed. No line but it was full. The service was excellent! The food was delicious. I tried the chiliquiles plate and it was packed with flavor. The green chili over the chips was perfect not too hot or mild, the beans were tasty and cooked to perfection. And the coffee was on POINT! The ambiance was fresh, with light yellow colored walls to match the sunlit morning.
