Came for the creemees, stayed for the ice cream! After going on a creemee adventure all throughout Vermont, we finally made our way to Vergennes. We have tried some of the best creemees the whole state has to offer and we were curious how this place ranked. When we arrived, it had a BIG line, so we definitely knew something had to be good! The atmosphere of this place is really cute, and they have hard ice cream (which I think is their specialty), soft serve (known as creemees in Vermont), as well as coffee and baked goods - both regular and gluten-free! We tried their maple and limoncello creemee flavors, as well as the basil ice cream considering they said it was ranked “best in Vermont” - the creemees were pretty good, but the basil ice cream was excellent! In my opinion, if you come here, you should get their hard ice cream because that seems like what they’re known for. You could be adventurous and try basil (there are no secrets here, it really tastes like basil), but if that’s not your style, they have tons of other awesome flavors to choose from. I would probably skip Lulu’s creemees just because we have had better in Jericho and Jeffersonville, but I can pretty safely say this place has the best hard ice cream I’ve had so far in Vermont. This is a great place nonetheless, and totally...
Read moreAfter visiting Rockers for a delicious meal, we once again headed over to lu lu's and we were not disappointed! As we've said before, there's nothing artificial about this ice cream and there's nothing artificial about the genuine friendliness and helpfulness of their staff. Adam took good care of us on this warm May afternoon. "Heart of Darkness" was our flavor of choice. The creamy chocolatey concoction (in a homemade waffle cone!) was the perfect dessert. We thought that one scoop would have been perfect, but after further discussion with Adam, he convinced us that two scoops really are better. And he was absolutely right. To be three hours from home and have one scoop? That'll never do!. The shop is very clean. There are several places to sit while enjoying your frozen treats. Lu Lu is definitely worth a visit - or several! See...
Read moreThe folks at Lulu are clearly hardcore food scientists that are asking "what makes this food good?" and building those qualities from the ground up. The Slumdog Millionaire flavor was the first of theirs that I tried. It is a peanut curry flavor with a tiny spicy kick at the end. Spicy curry is not something that will work in ice cream unless you balance it carefully but Lulu has done it beautifully. They also have an everything bagel flavor, various breakfast serial flavors, and seem to always be looking to create something unique.
Today we went in and tried their biscuit breakfast sandwich. It's a very simple bacon egg & cheese sandwich. The biscuits were fluffy and buttery in a way that's hard to find this far north. The bacon was out of this world. The egg was perfectly cooked. Perfect sandwich.
Keep up...
