Monk's Bar & Grill - Verona — Restaurant in Verona

Monk's Bar & Grill in Verona: Highly Recommend! Large bottle of sanitizer at check in desk available to all (positive). Every employee I saw had on a mask and the masks were worn properly (positive). We ate outside, but you had to go through the inside to get there (negative). The tables were spaced properly for distancing (positive). Before we sat down, wait staff wiped down all chairs and table (positive). The menus were laminated with no way to know if they were cleaned between uses - why not just use paper menus for now so less handling?

They open at 11:30 for lunch and we were first ones there and had the patio to ourselves our entire meal. Outdoor air and sunshine (positive). We brought our own hand sanitizer and used frequently. It was obvious they were trying hard to follow guidelines and make customers and employees feel safe. We wore our masks except when eating. We are over 65. We felt that between the precautions Monk's took COMBINED with the ones we took, we were safe and had an enjoyable meal. Went to Monk's in Verona on 5/5/19. We were seated immediately. The first thing I noticed was that there were 4 tables that have not been bussed. Two of the servers were talking about how lazy a different one was and how they were glad that this server did not show up today. We ordered the onion straws, and I was surprised that they came out within a minute. After the first bite I knew why. The straws were under the heat light for quite some time and were very dry and terrible.

I am writing the review because my son ordered the kids cheeseburger and though it was cooked to medium, he did get FOOD POISONING for the burger. The server never came back to see how our food was nor did she ask if we needed anything else prior to bringing the bill.

OH, and those four tables that needed bussing when we sat down, were still in need of bussing. The cups and food still on the table for the 45 minutes we were there. On the way out I counted the tables at the restaurant, 6. I saw 4 servers, no excuse for the poor dining conditions, and...

A friend and I arrived at 6pm and ordered food and drinks. By 6:15pm, our food arrived which was great! But by 6:30pm, the waitress had printed our receipts and told us we could pay when we were ready. We had barely started eating, and she didn't ask if we wanted more drinks or dessert. I finished my drink and waited for her to check on us to tell her I wanted another. She didn't. Every time she walked by, she wouldn't look at us. Finally she asks if we were doing okay and I told her I want another drink. She brings me another drink and a newly printed receipt, telling me I can pay when I'm ready. The same happened again for the third drink I wanted. We continually felt like we were being pushed out from the start as she kept printing new receipts and trying to get us to close out and pay, not asking if we wanted anything else. I should also add that it wasn't busy, so all the times she was ignoring us or was MIA, we could see her talking with other waitresses near the soda machines. It was just a frustratingly...
