Leon La Taberna — Restaurant in Vestavia Hills

The staff at Leon La Taverna was incredibly disinterested & lazy today. And the food is at best was mediocre. Our server came within a 1/2 second of dumping a plate of hot refried beans, rice, guacamole & sour cream in my lap. He only failed to get me covered in hot food because I saw his overloaded arms losing the excessive stack of plates. I saved myself by sliding to the far end of the bench seat very quickly. The seat where I had been was covered in slop. This occurred with only three tables occupied, so they clearly were not too rushed to provide basic table service. Their response was completely unconcerned. I tried the food not dumped in the bench seat and cannot recommend their beef fajitas... not sure what secret meat they are serving but definitely not traditional skirt steak. I ask for a manager but got the bartender instead. When asked what was wrong, I just asked them to remove their food and throw it in the garbage where it belonged, and bring me a check so I could leave their dump as soon as possible. They brought me a full price check and I paid fully for their garbage and left two nearly full drinks on the table just so we could leave the dump. Maybe that's why their...

Today was my first visit to Leon La Taberna and won't be my last. I arrived and was quickly greeted and seated by the hostess at the door. All the employees wore masks, correctly. After being seated, my server arrived promptly and took my drink order, then another server brought chips and salsa and also inquired about what sort of drink I would like, very refreshing to have solid customer service. My drink arrived, a Patron margarita. It was perfectly made and wonderful to drink. For my entrè, I ordered a Tinga, or maybe its just Tinga. The chicken was well prepared and had a rich depth of flavor. It was smokey, spicy, tasty goodness. Someone loved that dish into existence, really. I was truly surprised by the layers of flavor I was experiencing in this dish. The Tinga was spicy, but not overwhelmingly spicy. It had a bite but it did not linger. First time going there,I thought there would be good service and everything but no there wasn’t I had Finish my sweet tea and they were no where to be found like they would just walk and forget about our table and then I order (Buffalo wings ) not fried wings and they gave me fried wings and a bowl of Buffalo to dip my wings but like my wings shouldn’t be fried or nothing they suppose to be covered with Buffalo sauce and then they gave no ranch for the wings no napkins and best believe I didn’t eat my wings I only ate one and left the rest.so I’m asking for my check and I see a big cockroach roaming around don’t recommend eating here again...
