Tamale Place — Restaurant in Vicksburg

These are the most up to date menu prices and hours - both have changed since previous posts. NOTE: THEY WILL BE CLOSED JULY 4th-12th 2020 I got the Tamale Supreme, small. You can see the beans, chili, and tamale in the pic (this is after I got through the very thick layer of nacho cheese). I'd say there was maybe 1.5 tamales in there. They are filled with beef by the way - not plain tamales. I'll come back to get the half dozen, they were moist and tasty. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it's truly greasy-spoon food. I had been trying to get to Vicksburg during the week to try the Tamale's here & at Solly's for a long time, and finally managed to. After all I had read and heard about both of these Delta Style Tamale shacks, I guess my expectations were just too high, as I was not impressed with the Tamale's from either one, though The Tamale Places was the better of the two... I won"t be going out of my way to eat them again, but would grab a 1/2 Dozen if I was in the area... That said, if you have never had them, and you are in the area, then by all means stop by for a treat and hudge them...

The Tamales are delicious! But the service is trash.

Update: The first time I went it was cool. I went back and the service was horrible! The attendant didn’t even say hello when she asked to take my order. Just walked up and looked at me. Another lady came up to take over a was a bit more friendly. They put the tamales in a bag wrapped in paper. No napkins, spoons, or plate. I asked for a plate and was charged .25. I liked the tamales but the bad service put a very bad taste...
