Really wanted to like this place and was excited to see it open, but when I visited there were a number of issues keeping it from being very enjoyable. In no particular order: -Ordering food: there are three windows to order food and each only has a portion of the menu, even though they're right next to each other. That means that if you or your group want items from different windows, you have to order multiple times and get multiple pagers, and you need to pay attention to which pager is which or you won't know what food is ready. Then once you get to the window they don't know what order is associated with the pager, so you have to tell them. This was the case for both windows.
-The food itself: The food was not too great, the bread for both of our meals was very dry and the pulled pork in my sandwich was cold. It's also quite expensive for what you get, with two mini pulled pork sliders and a grilled cheese w/ tomato soup nearing $30 all in.
-The drinks. The cocktails are expensive, with my sub-par Manhattan running $12. That's the price range of cocktails at places like Marvel bar, which serves fantastic and imaginative drinks, so having a basic cocktail poorly executed for that price is extra disappointing. I also ordered a beer, and again felt ripped off. The beer I ordered typically is served in a pint glass for $6, but I paid $7 for a 10oz tulip (not even the full 12oz tulip size).
-Mini golf: the course was pretty uninteresting, and costs $12 a person
-VR: I remember this place being billed as having a "VR arcade" which in reality is just a single unattended Vive. I was particularly excited for this aspect so I was quite disappointed that that's all there is. I own a Vive personally, and while it's great, it's absolutely not ready for public use in this setting. Since it was unattended, both controllers were dead and one of the lighthouses (sensors for positional tracking) looked to be offline. This could maybe work in this setting with an attendant, but just leaving it out like this and hoping for the best is just not going to work, and is borderline irresponsible as newcomers to VR might not be aware of how the boundary system works, leading to people plowing into the nearest wall.
I feel a lot of these issues could be mitigated and I will try again at a later date and update my review accordingly, but for now it's not a...
Read moreIt is okay. Tried to plan an event there, used the website to email about an inquire, said we would get a response the next day, talked to the individual who organizes the events in person 5 days later. Was informed that she sent an email out the day prior. we still reserved the spot in person, she told us that there would be another email sent to us to order food and what not, did not receive it, so I used the original email to send her a message confirming ordering food and the game cards, and never heard back from her. We arrived the day of, she was not there and there was no communication sent down to the other individual that helped us, and none of the game cards were ready as they said they did not get any of my requests.(see attached pictures) It took about 20-30 minutes to get the cards for the children and as you can imagine, they were restless and wanted to have fun. We did not get any mini golf as an option as was discussed in person, also my food order that I had requested was not submitted. Not to mention, one of the game cards that I got for the kids only had enough to play 3 games on and it was balanced to zero. The younger female in the gaming section did a wonderful job and correcting that for us. Thankfully we got their early enough to order our food, and that is one thing I do have to give them 3 stars on is the food itself. It was good, but if you are looking to plan an event, I would avoid this place, or check to see if they have their ducks together.
Edit: I gave it 1 more star as I was contacted and issues were corrected and everything was handled...
Read morePretty fun opening day. Played mini golf, threw some axes, and had dinner and drinks.
Food (two-stars): was not impressed. The mac and cheese my girlfriend got was pretty bad. The wings that I got were actually pretty good. A friend got the ribs and said they were pretty good. Another friend got the tacos and said they were alright.
Drinks (three-stars): the beer was not super cold at the main bar, but they said that will be fixed eventually. The mixed drinks were pretty good at well (very generous on booze). Prices were a little high for the venue however... Ended up going to Floyds for cheaper drinks and live music.
Mini golf (three-stars): it was a little bit of an unimpressive course. I think it could have been a bit cooler if they would have made it a 9-hole with m more challenging holes. For the most part, the holes were all about the same difficulty. The faux plants were also a little cheesy. All in all, it was still pretty fun with a beer.
Axe throwing (five stars): really helpful staff and it was a lot of fun.
I think that I would be more willing to up this review if some changes were made to the food. Also, I think some live music around 8:30 would really benefit them for keeping it a bit more lively after most families are gone. This is a great idea for the area and I will definitely be back soon, but I will probably eat beforehand and still end up going to Floyds after for some live music...
