I don't know who Toby is, but he deserves a slap (one of the nice, hearty kind) on the back for his handmade ice cream.
My family and I stopped by here one evening looking for a sweet treat to close out the week. We're pretty used to ice cream shops like Coldstone, so I had already taken out a second mortgage on my home just to make sure I had enough cash on hand to pay for ice cream I could have bought at the grocery store.
Toby's is the exception to the rule.
The shop is pretty small and unassuming. It's tucked into a pretty small space at the end of the shopping center and has probably 5-6 tables inside and a bench outside. The tables inside sit 4 max, and then there are a few tables that seat 2 and a bar looking out the window. When we went, that ended up being fine, but it's something to consider if you're planning on going with a large group. It would, however, be a great place for a date.
Unrelatedly, but perhaps not, I took the cutest photo of my daughter on the bench outside. Perhaps it was just a lucky shot, perhaps it was the ice cream inspiring my photographic eye. Either way, I tip my hat to Toby for making that happen.
The flavor selection was really interesting, they have all your basics (except for cake batter, which is a favorite of mine) and a few interesting options including pistachio and ube. They do have peppermint ice cream, not mint ice cream, peppermint, with actual chunks of peppermint in it – that alone should earn this place a 5 star review as that flavor is tough to find. Toppings were pretty basic and all extra, so we didn't get any.
The prices were also really reasonable. I believe it was around $7 for a milkshake and probably similar for the cone my wife got. Compared to the ridiculous prices you pay at other ice cream shops, that was a really pleasant surprise.
The staff was helpful, kind and kept the line moving pretty well.
Parking is easy and plentiful.
Long story short: Toby's is a great, local ice cream spot. It's easily accessible, there are plenty of flavors for everyone and you won't break the bank getting to enjoy delicious ice cream.
Well done,...
Read moreHappened just now!!! My friend&I always come here and we loved ice cream here. Today, i wanted to try another flavors so I got 2 scoops (pandan and Rasberry sorbet) but the rasberry sorbet texture is way too sticky so i kindly asked him (his name is Logan) he responsed me very rude that sorbet’s texture supposed to be like this, if you dont like it just throw away but you gotta pay for it. I was like ok fine i can pay whatever, since im a regular customers here but the way you talk or react to customers shouldnt be like this then his gesture very rude and said back to me “ok what flavor you want” i was like I didnt want any substitute or anything but you should treat customer better. He seemed doesnt care and turn away from me so i had to ask for manager, he answered “not here”…..Well! I didnt want to do this but there’s no way I can complain.
1.The store needs much more professional workers 2.Should have person in charge in store everyday, isnt that most restaurant places do?
I suggested the owner or manager to check CCTV and see how your...
Read moreTheir ice cream cakes are delicious! I’m a Carvel convert. None of this “ice cream cake” that has…cake(!)…in it. What’s the matter with those people?
I wish they had custom cakes and flavors; my son doesn’t like the chocolate here (it’s a little “grown up” for his tastes); alas, you get what you get. Seriously, if I found a place that made ice cream cakes that were both delicious AND custom decorated, I don’t know what I’d do with myself….have a lot less stress around my kids’ birthdays. At least they’re all pretty plainly decorated so you can zshuz them up with toys, fondant things you get on Etsy, cookies.
I highly recommend the cakes, and they generally have a variety to choose from...
