I had a lovely meal there with my wife. We had the crab stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer and split a veal piccata and a chicken parmesan and then had chocolate lava cake for dessert. The entree portions were huge and came with delicious, soft garlic rolls.
The atmosphere isn't intimate but it's also not too noisy. It was fun and festive and there was a singer (Adam?) circulating performing awesome renditions of some great songs and providing some history about the songs as well. He was great and definitely added a lot to the atmosphere. Our waitress was professional, friendly and attentive.
The veal piccata was very good with a nice tangy sauce and very lightly breaded veal with crispy edges.
The chicken parm was also excellent - again very lightly breaded with crispy edges. The marinara sauce was very vibrant, slightly sweet with a good fresh tomato flavor and none of the metallic taste you get sometimes from tomato paste.
The chocolate lava cake was extremely light but not dry. It wasn't as dense and fudgy as other chocolate lava cakes I've had but it also didn't make you feel like you'd just downed a thousand calories of fat and sugar.
We also had sangria and wine. The house moscato was excellent - fruity, slightly sweet and very refreshing. I also had one of the house reds and it went very well with the marinara. The sangria was also very good - not syrupy sweet like some sangria but fruity with a citrus kick.
Minor complaints: The piccata sauce needed more artichoke. I think we saw one piece. The sauce was excellent but I love to see lots of artichoke in my piccata. -The lava cake was good but it could've used some fruit garnish. It was excellent but a little plain and I think the lightness of the sponge would go well with some sliced fruit. The caesar salad could have done with a bit less dressing but I may have been served from the bottom of the bowl where it tends to collect. We stumped the waitress on a couple of questions about the menu. It may just be inexperience, though. She was excellent in every other respect and offered to find answers to our questions.
Thanks very much for a...
Read moreLet me preface the review by saying our service was very good, but the overall experience was poor. We ordered bruschetta to start and it really reminded me more of French bread pizza. It seemed to have marinara, garlic butter, mozzarella, and a sprinkling of parmesan which was unlike any bruschetta I've had in the past. The garlic rolls' flavors were pretty good, but the texture was very soft and doughy. I ordered the pasta combo which included lasagna, manicotti, and fettuccine alfredo. The lasagna was among the worst I've had. The marinara is too sweet and there was literally a slice of provolone only partially melted over the top. The manicotti didn't seem like it had been baked. The pasta tasted very watery and draped over the top was the same unmelted piece of provolone. The fettuccine was fine, and the alfredo sauce wasn't too thick/thin. My wife had a Greek salad which she enjoyed with a mixture of balsamic dressing and a small amount of the house Greek dressing. She ordered the chicken picatta, and the sauce was very thick as if maybe it wasn't heated long enough. The dish was bland, but was made better with a good dousing of salt and pepper. The wine list was short, and I ordered the house cab since I was unfamiliar with the other two options. It tasted more like a red table wine. My wife ordered the house chardonnay and was pleased with it. To end, you could definitely spend $75 elsewhere and have a much better meal, but the server...
Read moreThis was our first time eating at this location. We normally go to the Hiram restaurant. This location has a few different options and a different soup than Hiram. This is why we decided to go here. The food was just as good as the Hiram location. The soup here is minestrone (Hiram has the Greek lemon soup). The soup was very good, nice portion also. My wife ordered the sausage parmesan with a side of spaghetti, and I had the baked ziti with meat sauce. They were both very good. The portion size for the ziti was good, and just the right amount of sauce for me. The sausage links were a little small, not what we were expecting. When I think sausage, I think thicker style sausage than what we got. Still, it was tasty. The service was ok, not bad, but not great. We had to ask our waiter multiple times for the same items before he finally brought it to us. They did have two big parties going on, so it was busy. I suppose I'm a little spoiled by the Hiram restaurant. At the Hiram location, we get better service, and we like to atmosphere more. Plus, they know us there, and it's like we are more appreciated there. The management and staff are great in Hiram. All in all, this location has good food and a few different options than Hiram. So, if you want to try other options, then the other locations give them a try. This location also has a Sunday buffet, which we...
