It really takes a lot for me to leave such a poor review, but I will never be back to this restaurant. After being seated, it took over 10 minutes before we had to get up and ask our server to take our order. Mind you there were currently only 2 other parties seated in the restaurant at the time a party of 2 and a party of 5. After placing our order he came back to tell me that they didn't have any more wings. Fine not the end of the world. We ordered 3 apps, 1 salad and 2 sandwiches (family of 4 with two younger kids). Note that they did not have a separate kids menu, but some of the apps were basically kids menu items. We ordered the Mac and cheese with cornbread, artichoke spinach dumplings, chicken fingers and fries, a Caesar salad, the getaway burger and the Miami vice (essentially their Cuban). It took another 25 - 30 minutes before I had to get up and ask where our food was. Our server said it was almost ready, and then I asked to have whatever was ready to be sent out and that they didn't have to wait for it all to be done, as our kids were getting impatient. At this point the other two parties were already served food, so I really don't know what took so long. Food came out. Most of everything was ok. Nothing amazing. Chicken fingers and Mac and cheese were solid. So was the burger and the cuban. The fries were under salted, the salad had way too much dressing (I forgot to ask for the dressing on the side). And the artichoke dumplings were quite gross (the cheese on top wasn't even melted properly). While the food was ok, for the price of the meal it was not worth it. The burger was essentially the same as a double burger from bare burger down the street, which I would have preferred, price aside (as this didn't even come with lettuce, tomatoes or anything, only pickles, onions (which were supposed to be grilled but were not) and sauce. The chicken fingers while solid, only had 4 small pieces. While the food was not amazing I would have accepted that maybe we didn't order the right things for us, but the lack of service really made the experience unbearable, especially since the restaurant was not...
Read moreAmazing food, amazing ambiance, amazing staff. I'd like to say I usually never write reviews unless the experience was wonderful, and this was exactly that.
Came here for a Sunday date night and was not disappointed. The restaurant didn't seem too busy, so it was nice and relaxing for us. The drink menu says "mocktails to craft" and I was hooked; I asked the waiter (probably owner) what he recommended to which he told me about the various mocktails he could make as he has a nonalcoholic agave tequila in house. With that, I was given a spicy cucumber margarita mocktail and it was delicious. As someone who tries not to drink alcohol, this option was amazing.
For starters, my boyfriend and I got the salt and vinegar dry rub wings as we have never seen those kinds on a menu before. They were amazing. The wings were crispy and juicy, while also not being greasy. They were seasoned to perfection, and came with a row of dipping sauces: (top to bottom) lemon pepper sauce, blue cheese, sweet Thai Asian sauce, and ranch. They were all a delicious pairing with the wings.
As our mains, we both got the gateway smash burger with a side of fries. The burger was perfectly made with the right amount of sauce and the patties were smashed to lacy perfection. The outside was crispy, while also not being dry. The fries were also the right amount of crispiness and full of flavor. Overall, I highly recommend this burger. Think shake shack type of burger, but better sauce, patty, and all around better burger.
For dessert, we weren't actually looking for anything! The owner/waiter so very nicely treated us to the chocolate mousse chimney! He knew what he was doing as it was DELICIOUS. Not overly sweet, creamy, and...
Read moreWe had a reservation this past Saturday at 12:30pm (the website says the restaurant opens at 12:00pm). We arrived at 12:30 and the restaurant had no lights on, was completely dark, and the front door was locked. We proceeded to go around to the back door to see if that was open. The back door was open so we proceeded into the restaurant. As we walked in, we noticed there was not a single person in there, it was pitch black with no lights on, and even after shouting "hello" multiple times it was clear no one was there. While exiting the back door we noticed the kitchen door was open in the back, we knocked and asked the worker what time they opened, he response was maybe 1:30. After grabbing a bite to eat at another restaurant in town, we walked back to The Getaway Car to speak with someone about what transpired earlier. We spoke to one of the workers who confidently told us the restaurant opened at 12pm (which obviously was not true), and once we explained what happened earlier his only response was "do you want to sit or no?" No apology, no attempt to rectify the situation. Very bizarre, very weird the door was open and the interaction with the worker put a bad taste...
