General Tso's Chinese Food — Restaurant in Village of Cross Plains

I LOVE General Tso's here in Cross Plains. It is LITERALLY 1 of 3 non-bar restaurants in town. Whether I have a simple or large order, they have always been helpful and made sure my order was correct.

I was so sad to see them shut down for COVID for so long, but I'm so happy they have reopened with a very safe store. I'm trying to keep to a diet but once a week or so I still have to splurge and get something from General Tso's. Chicken lo-mein and boneless BBQ spare ribs and rice are my favorites, but I have sampled a lot of the menu and have enjoyed all of it.

Tasted OK but the pricing for Lunch was $10 - very expensive, even compared to other takeout Chinese places (Sauk City included). I felt the Crab Rangoon was very greasy and the egg rolls seem much smaller than they used to be. The level of "protection" (from what I don't know) at this place is obscene. This was my first and last visit to this place! The chicken fried rice I ordered for takeout was awful. When I got home and opened the package I found mushy bland white rice that seemed to have some kind of broth mixed with it. The very minimal amount of chicken in it was not cooked thoroughly and I had to refry the whole mess again at home just to make it palatable enough to eat.
