I heard of this place from a coworker. It’s one of those places that are deceptive to the eye, don’t judge a book by its cover. I mean to say it’s not all modern looking inside and it’s very old fashioned looking and I know many people who didn’t grow up patronising local corner shops like this may prejudge it and be put off but don’t do that!!Because the hoagie was good… really good. I had the Italian. It reminded me of a place on the corner of a street I grew up on in South Philly called Stranos, we called it Russell’s though. One of the best in the area. Jerrys Italian almost hit the mark so I was really impressed. Now, the Ham & cheese…. It’s like a Red’s hoagies. That’s another staple in the South Philly community… it was I should say. Sadly Reds closed its doors after DECADES of irreplaceable, incredibly delicious neighbourhood service and fantastic memories. None better in the whole world let alone city many of us who experienced their sandwich believe and once again Jerrys got me in a nostalgic mood and made me a kid again from start to finish. I can’t wait to work that area again just for the chance to get another one. Great lunch spot. They have hot food as well but I can’t speak on those. I did however get the homemade banana pudding with the Nella wafers. Omg… it was great. Check...
Read moreThis was my first visit to Jersey Jerry's and it is a hidden gem! From when you first walk in and that familiar yet nostalgic scent hits you and your mouth starts watering to the more modern and easy to use ordering kiosk, to the friendly and helpful staff this visit was quick and pleasant. This time we chose cold hoagies. I was surprised and happy with the varying choices including things like how I wanted my roll soft, scooped, toasted, etc to how I wanted it cut, the preset choices or request my own, the spreads and toppings, there was nothing missing. Next, I have to say shrinkflation has not hit here. Full 12 inch size roll, packed with ingredients, these were the hoagies I was hoping for. When I got home I wondered briefly if I would be disappointed and it was all paper wrapping. I was relieved to find out that in fact these were that fat. Packed with meat, cheese, and just the right amount of toppings. The lettuce was crisp, the tomatoes juicey and flavorful, the onions sliced paper thin, not overly done with spreads either. The price point was right on target and honestly, less than I have found anywhere else. Jersey Jerry's has found a new customer...
Read moreThis is my favorite place to go for cheesesteaks. My family has gotten other kinds of subs from here, but I always get the cheesesteaks because they pack them the most of any place around here. They taste great as well, which is even more important than the amount of meat. The place does not look like anything from the outside, but the inside is fine. They have lots of side options like the standard chips, but also a bunch of fruit and vegetables and salads. There's no seating but two chairs at a table, at least the last time I was there, so it's strictly a take out place. Parking is fine as there are more spaces in the back if you can't park out front. My family have always enjoyed their subs and have never felt ripped off or cheaped-out on. Update: Took a couple relatives here just yesterday and the subs were packed. We got cheesesteaks and three out of four of us could only finish half of ours. The order of fries was very generous as well. The sub tasted as good as...
