The first time that I tried porters, 5 of us had pizza rolls; none of us liked them because they were mostly dough with very little cheese or pepperoni. I decided to try the place again, last Thursday & ordered an iced tea & chocolate chip cookie. The tea was good, but the cookie tasted strange to me. I shared the cookie with another person & they didn’t like it either; quite frankly it was terrible. Since I did enjoy the tea, I decided to stop back the following day, & give the place another try. I ordered the same tea that I had the day before; iced tea with honey and lavender. This time, there was a guy who waited on me. After I paid, I stepped to the end of the counter to pick up my beverage, and I noticed that the drink was not what I had ordered. When I brought it to his attention, he told me that I ordered a latte, which I did not because I do not drink milk or coffee. When I told him that I had ordered an iced tea, he began to scold me, and told me that I most definitely did not, and that if I wanted a T it would cost an additional $2.75. I was shocked, and told him that I was not going to pay for another drink because I did not order what he had made, and it was not my mistake, and I told him that I would just like a refund at that time. He rolled his eyes at me, and once again told me that the next time I ordered I better make sure I spoke clearly and ordered the correct item. At that point I asked to speak with his manager, and he went to get her. The manager came out, and I explained what it happened, and she told me that she would “have a talk with him“, but that was the extent of it. Three strikes and I’m out! Not only was I unimpressed with the Quality and taste of the food, but I was completely disappointed with the extremely rude and very poor customer service. I definitely would not recommend porters, and I absolutely will not...
Read moreToday was the last straw.
I have been here hundreds of times, and have been a very consistent customer with a very consistent order of frozen drinks. For some reason, my order is made incorrectly over half of the time. Well today I went into the drive thru and sat there for almost ten minutes with no one coming to take my order, pulled around to see if the store was even open just to pull around to the drive thru once more, now with someone in front of me and who immediately got their order taken care of. Well when I finally got my order taken care of, I pulled up to the window and have two drinks that didn't have the drizzle I asked for (this happens to me almost every time I go here, so not new) one being iced and one being frozen. I know for a fact I said frozen for both. So here I am arguing with someone playing I said she said, for something I didn't even order! Used my $5 off just to turn around and be charged for another drink. I explained to her calmly I never get iced drinks and she said I'd have to be charged if I wanted another one. I paid for three drinks receiving only two, and used a $5 off that doesn't even cover the full cost of one of those. Ridiculous rule on the owners part, especially when you lose long time customers over it. And once I got home I realized she didn't even give me straws for the frozen drinks. Thank you Crystal great service!
Instead of trying to open another location, maybe train the staff you currently have, because they don't seem to know what they are doing.
I will definitely be recommending other places with not only friendly baristas, but qualified ones who...
Read morePorter's is the best local coffee shop! I wasn't much of a coffee drinker until I started drinking theirs. Now I'm much more picky when it comes to having a good latte. Their baked goods are amazing and are made daily by the owner and some of her family. I've tried just about everything and haven't been disappointed by anything.
In terms of accessibility, Porter's is fairly accessible. Although there's only one accessible parking space, the overall place has decent accessibility. Since the beginning COVID restrictions, the owner has put in place a one-way traffic flow. The new entrance only door is not accessible for people with wheelchairs, but there is an exception to use the exit only door as a handicap accessible entrance. Sometimes it can get quite loud when they're busy, so for anyone that has a sensitivity to sound it might be best to go when it's less busy. Also there are a lot of smells lingering, so that's another sensory thing to keep in mind. There is a ramp that goes through the coffee shop that makes getting into line or getting to the front of the shop accessible for people with physical assisting devices. The restroom is also equipped with railings to be handicap accessible as well. The staff is super accommodating for any customer that needs assistance whether or not they have a disability, so it's helps to just ask!
Overall this place is amazing and I'd recommend it to anyone that enjoys coffee, fresh made baked goods, and enjoys supporting small local business(es). Porter's also offers merchandise including tumblers, mugs, honey, and t-shirts that are...
