The BEST way to experience Virginia Beach! [📌Save this itinerary & tag your adventure pals!] Most people think boardwalk and big hotels, but there’s SO MUCH MORE to Virginia Beach than that. It’s actually one of the best places for outdoor recreation in the state with unique opportunities for hiking, paddling, swimming, and more. Here are my recommendations for the perfect getaway to VB! WHERE TO STAY: If you prefer a more relaxing vibe, Sandbridge is definitely the spot. We stayed at the most beautiful beach-front home called “Good Vibes Only.” It fits up to 26 guests with 9 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms across three floors. The kitchen is fully stocked, featuring a double island, and there’s even a movie theater room! This home is perfect for a big multigenerational family or even a friends reunion. [Hosted] ACTIVITIES: The adventure opps are endless, so here are some of my favorites in the area. 🥾Explore the hiking trails (like Bald Cypress)at First Landing State Park. Then swim in The Narrows. 🌊Check out the hidden boardwalk trail, paddle in the bay, fish, or hit up the beach at Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. You can also head into False Cape State Park from here! ❗️~1 hour drive from Sandbridge (toll required for CBBT)… 🚣🏻‍♂️Paddle out to the “Concrete Fleet” & hit the beach at Kiptopeke State Park (head up to historic Cape Charles after!) EAT & DRINK 🍤 Baja Restaurant in Sandbridge (get the Mahi bites!) 🐟 @bluepetesrestaurant (great live music) 🌮The Shanty in Cape Charles 🍻 @capecharlesbrewing 🍺 @smartmouthbeer 🍩 Sandbridge Market for fresh donuts ☕️ @mellobeans *There are soo many places, these are just the ones recommended to us that we loved! 👉🏼Have you visited Virginia Beach yet? 🏠Book “Good Vibes Only” on VRBO or Sandbridge Blue Realty!

We went here to have dinner. Was told by the hostess that dinner in the restaurant was going to be a 45 minute wait. So, I asked about the bar side looking out at the bay and was told it was seat yourself and they served pizza. We decided to do this option instead because of the view and we were hungry. We found a seat, sat there for a few minutes before realizing that there is no wait staff. Went up to the bar and ordered a couple of Orange Crush cocktails. Was hoping that they would be like Waterman's in VA Beach, but was really disappointed that it was on the rocks, in a small plastic cup (maybe 8 Oz) with all ice. At $8.00 it was no bargain. Then I was told that they were not serving pizza at that time, this was on a Sunday around 5 PM, and was told about Jose' Tequila across the street. (Wish I would have known that before ordering the drinks. That is where we went to have dinner, and their drinks were worth the money.) As I was leaving, I let the hostess know that the bar wasn't serving pizza since there seemed to be a lack of communication there. The sad part to this is that the Sandbridge Island restaurant had to close that day because their water heater died, and Margie and Ray's was closed as well. People were coming to Baja looking for a place to eat and were being turned away by the wait time in the restaurant and by the fact that they weren't serving food at the bar. In today's world with the economy, and other establishments opportunities, you are only a step away from losing customers for good.

Edited to respond to Owner: While it is true I did not understand your policies regarding private events, that fault is due to your lack of explanation when we first spoke and the incorrect information on your website. I ask you and everyone to look at your website. It says, "For all kinds of occasions... not just weddings. Wether its a family reunion, retirement party, office celebration, or birthday, we offer tons of options that will meet your specific needs." Typos and grammatical errors are on Baja's website, not for emphasis.

Nowhere on the entire site does it limit the time of year and by offering your place for a birthday party or office celebration, it's laughable to offer space for small gathering after a memorial for a minimum of $20,000 during the time when your restaurant is already closed. The phone call you made after my review posted later explained your policies in a very different tone but was actually an insult on top of an already bad experience in dealing with you. You messed up. Had your website given correct information or had you asked explained the policies in a polite way when we spoke, none of this would've been a problem. Harmless error. But twice now you were wrong, rude, insulting, and we will not be giving you business while we are there and will encourage our family to follow suit.

Original Review:

Delayed response, extremely rude, and incorrect information on website. I contacted Baja Grill looking for a place to host a small, informal brunch after my mother's burial in three months. I found their website which specifically says, "The perfect setting for your special day. Regardless of the theme, TIME OF YEAR, or size of your wedding."

First I filled out a contact form online because the place does not open until dinner hours. No response after two weeks so I called. Spoke to the manager who was very helpful, took down information, and said could be done but needs to schedule through owner.

I spoke to owner a couple days later after leaving a message with no response and he was very rude and abrupt and said no reservation could be done as no special events are scheduled during the summer. I explained the information on the website gives very different impression, and he said will not do it. And his manager gave a very different answer when we spoke, but he said absolutely not without even asking questions about what I was looking for.

I understand small businesses and the time of year at the beach. But if you cannot host small events, don't advertise you can host small events. Especially as the lead page on your website. Which specifically says ANY TIME OF YEAR. And when a person calls inquiring about hosting a small event when your website advertises you host small events ANY TIME OF YEAR, don't get angry with the customer for your...

So Me and My husband decided to take trip to VA in RV and stayed in North Bay Shore Campground by the way Staff is Excellent! We didn’t want to take RV to beach and was told go beach Sandbridge area and eat at Baja Restaurant so we decided take Lyff. We went to beach enjoyed the weather and walked across too restaurant eat while trying wait on Lyff which it kept saying longer wait time. I think we made mark at Baja Restaurant as I think we we're probably 1st African Americans too eat there 🙄🤷🏿‍♀️. We got our meal and was still trying get Lyff back campsite so as we we’re eating I asked waitress about another car service to use get back campsite and explained Lyff was still searching and by way don’t remember her name but she was very pleasant that’s why I gave 2 stars, she must of told owner I believe Because as we finish eating and Paid for our food which was $76 not cheap he came over too table and said are you still waiting on Lyff and I explained our situation and he asked and assuming “Did your car break down?” 😳🙄🤦🏾‍♀️My husband replied No we have RV didn’t want Pressure of looking for parking at beach so we caught Lyff he then said try cab company but quote “I have other people waiting for table so if your finish eating we need your table” Didn’t over us another area sit considering we just spent $76😩😩😩 and because he has bar I’m quite sure he knows drivers that will pick up his drunk customers and By way restaurant was not that busy as they we’re sitting people inside and out not giving us option to where we wanted to sit. I feel we we’re racially profile by owner and will Never go back to Baja Restaurant Again! Great Ending North Bay Shore Campground Was Amazing and Nikki sent Gary you get us.. Thanks Again North Bay Shore Campground...Nikki...

Seems like the real experience ia sitting out doors. Didn’t know about it and therefore wasn’t mesmerized by the location. Server was pleasant—local kid who cares, but not polished or professional—but pleasant. She crab soup—luke warm. Hello…how hard is that? Ordered a passion fruit margarita. The best part was the price: $10. Nothing to brag about beside that--no passion other than the name. Burger—undercooked by a long shot. Asked to have it “just heated up a bit” but kitchen said “no, we’ll make another.” So how long does it take to cook a NEW burger MW while everyone else has their entree?!?! Not a smart move, kitchen. Took approximately 12 minutes. When choices are limited then Baja becomes tolerable. When looking for something special and that means only a beautiful view, then perhaps Baja will be a charming alternative. But if flavors are important to you, drive the extra 15 minutes and tap into several other choices that provide a better value and more predictable experience. Had a manager been visible or checked in on our experience I perhaps would have mentioned the issues. In fact, at the conclusions of the meal, we lingered looking for someone who looked like a manager but we saw no one "managerial". The server knew of issues and it should have trickled to the manager's ears. I am a huge advocate for calmly pointing out missteps after multiple fouls in real time but not at the expense of embarrassing anyone in my party or quenching the mood of our family re-union. Managers should always avail themselves to their guests if they seek to know the status of the guest experience over a 120 minute meal, not the...
