Stooges Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

This place feels more like a clubhouse than a bar I get the sense it’s the same crowd every night. We came in to watch the Eagles vs. Cowboys game, but right away I was shocked they still allow smoking indoors. The smoke cloud was so thick we almost left, but we stayed since the other bar we tried had no seating.

Service didn’t help the vibe either. The guy who took our order was sarcastic and just came off…odd. Hard to get a read on him the whole night. I ordered a Crown and Coke (which wasn’t good) while my buddy got a beer. We tried to watch the game, but instead of the broadcast, they were blasting 90’s rap so loud you couldn’t even hear the commentary.

We decided to order food and both got wings. They were just okay needed way more seasoning. Neither of us finished ours, though I will say the food came out quickly. That was probably the only positive.

The whole time we never felt welcome. All the locals crowded near the bar smoking and chatting, and it was clear we weren’t part of the “in” crowd. Honestly this bar was fun until the white female bartender with tattoos got into a passive argument with me. On July 14th around 7pm a white tattooed female bartender approached my group and said she was getting off her shift. She asked if we would like to close out or be moved to the next bartender. I told her I’d like to be moved to the next bartender however I’d still tip her out. I gave her $20 cash. She stayed around and when my group got finished I went to close out. The bartender with tattoos stayed after her shift and was by the new bartender. I was curious to if she was still working and mentioned that I had tipped her cash cuz I thought she was leaving. She denied that I tipped her, and passively argued with me that I did not tip and told the new bartender that I did not tip her. She literally received a 30% tip and then was disrespectful. Went up there a was there for then an 30-45 min. The female bartender and a white male came up to me ask me if I had a dog in the car I to I replied yes to (as my dog would much rather wait for me in the car then at home) to then he started screaming in my face then assaulting me, throwing my drink on the floor using derogatory terms ruining the night for me and my lady friend. After being verbally and physically assaulted by the lady bartenders friend or who I assume since they approached me together. They starting going after my lady friend. Workers and people at the bar rushed him to leave before the cops got here and wouldn’t let me take pictures or video of him nor his license plate.
