The food is actually pretty good not excellent but for takeout it’s about average. They often price gouge you have to watch your credit card statements. I ordered a dish that was $23 after the taxes and delivery fee. She told me the cost was going to be $30, when I got my credit card statement, it was $34 and some change. I called to inquire as to why the price increased. The lady gave me some bogus excuse about credit card fee, which is illegal in the state of Virginia to pass on your credit card fee to your customers. Not to mention, I only live directly across the street less than five minutes from them, but I understand everybody has to get paid. Nevertheless, she was very Rude and hung up on me. I called back and explained to her that I work in a law office. And that it would be illegal to pass on Credit card fee to their customers and that I would be letting the attorney in my office know because that’s what they practice is based on Most of the time. I wish I could leave them a more positive review but overall, it was not a good experience. Even upon pick up of food, they are not very friendly. and does not seem to appreciate my business. That’s just my experience but hey, if you have money to give away and you’re very hungry and they are closest place then give them a try, but if you have options by all means, there are better ways to spend your money or better places...

Items on their vegan menu need explaining. We thought the szechuan cabbage was a cooked dish. All it is is cabbage covered in sesame seeds with a vinegar dressing. Upon seeing the dish, we remarked on it thinking it was supposed to have some red sauce on it; the waitress told us it was a like Chinese salad. We wouldn't have ordered that had we known it was just a salad. I got the tofu veggies and fired noodles dish (also off the vegan menu). It came artfully prepared with fresh vegetables in a bed of noodles that looked like a birds nest. However, the noodles were HARD like ramen noodles. I don't even know if the noodles were cooked. I think they just took the noodles out of a package, designed it like they did, and threw them in an oven to brown and crisp then up. There wasn't any sauce on the dish, just water on the bottom of the plate to help soften the noodles, so there was no specific taste to the dish. Had it said the veggies would be on a bed of HARD noodles, I wouldn't have ordered it because I like soft, COOKED noodles. Plus, the tofu tasted like the water that was in the dish, even with dumpling sauce. Portion sizes are also small. All other Chinese restaurants I've been to have large portions so you can share. These were all personal size. The edamame dumplings are good, however. Probably won't be coming back. Peter Chang's and Jade Villa (on Independence Blvd)...

very dark red floodlights as ambience Overpriced fare

Seems to be a local favorite I am less than 2 miles away and will never go back

The server was kind and articulate in reviewing the specials This was a birthday party in which there was a reservation made... However, after waiting a considerable amount of time to be served (40 min) the party I was in did not receive any attention or refills on Water during this time I had to keep on asking someone else to refill water and also bring 2 extra place settings for the server did not seem to notice

Not once did she return until serving us then it was in waves of 10min intervals

I ordered one of chief specials ... the crab and shrimp stuffed Portobello mushroom which when delivered it was 2/4 of the mushroom (1/2 a small mushroom cut in half) stuffed with primarily minced shrimp

I was one of the last to be served and found the 1/2 a mushroom an insult when the bill for that "special" was $35 Because i was in a party i was also charged a 15% (which was $17) gratuities even though her service was far from service that too was an insult being she did not need to attend to us for we would all be tipping regardless of her quality of service

I noticed the awards and wonder if they paid for such "golden" awards to be displayed so that one may feel that such silence and lack of...

Imperial Palace exceeded my expectations from start to finish. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, and the service was outstanding—attentive without ever feeling rushed. The shrimp egg roll was the perfect starter: crisp on the outside with tender shrimp and vegetables inside, full of flavor without being greasy. The Szechuan cabbage was a real highlight—spicy, tangy, and perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of heat. The hot and sour soup was rich and comforting, with layers of flavor that made every spoonful satisfying. For the main course, the Hunan chicken was fantastic—tender chicken with a savory sauce, vegetables cooked just right, and a depth of flavor that kept me going back for more. Beyond the food, the service really made the experience special. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and made great recommendations. Everything arrived promptly, and I never had to ask twice for anything. Imperial Palace is a gem—I’ll definitely be back and recommend it to anyone looking for delicious food and great service.

In Virginia Beach visiting family and started having a sore throat and I was craving soup. Decided to order their Chicken and Corn Soup and asked for crispy wonton strips. OMG, so good!! The broth was silky with such a great mouth feel. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The corn was sweet enough to add just a “pop” of yumminess, but not too sweet that it over powers the savory thick chicken broth. Adding the crispy wonton noodles brought in a different texture, as they didn’t get soggy even at the bottom of the bowl. My husband had Mongolia beef and it was also wonderful, and he finished it all before I could get a picture. Hint: if ordering to go, call the restaurant direct versus going through Grub Hub as their website routes you. The prices are much better directly through the restaurant.
