Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

My first ever visit to a Tropical Smoothie was 11-01-18 for my birthday. My friend and I got there at 8:30, the open sign was already off even though it says on the door they close at 9. We saw a couple people sitting at the little bar to the left and decided to go in. Instead of being greeted, the girl behind the counter went to the kitchen door and said theres more people coming in. The response was loud stating ‘I’ve already cleaned everything’ followed by sounds of stuff banging around. Still not being greeted, she blankly looked at us and asked ‘do you know what you want’? After placing our order we sat down to wait and overheard her telling the people sitting at the bar she wouldn’t be done when she said she would and hoped no one else would come in and she was ready to get out of there. Another customer came in and was treated the same way we were, as an inconvenience instead of a customer. We ate our food and headed for the door around 8:50 to leave. We were followed by the other employee who locked the door as soon as we walked out. As we got into the car, a potential customer walked up only to find the door locked before actual closing time. Tonight I decided to give it another shot hoping my experience would be better than my first. Man was I wrong! As soon as we walked in, all we could smell was a strong odor of burnt food in the air. We decided to place our order anyway which was simple, she got a ceasar wrap combo and I I got a smoothie. Both of our smoothies were wrong. We informed the guy who took our order, he said he didn’t make them and walked over to the employee who did explaining they were incorrect. The other employee didn’t say anything, with his eye rolling and shoulder shrugging he really didn’t have to. It was clear he really didn’t care at all. I am a big fan of tropical smoothie but the service here will push you away from them all. I went in before work to order a smoothie and wrap. Cashier was friendly but just couldn’t anything right she read back what I ask for which I said ok paid and waited. I heard them call a order and name which said wrong name and sand which was not why I ordered so I still continue to wait and something say ask to see the name. When I looked it was me but not what I ordered. Which was frustrating after waiting I ask to get the correct sand which and ask how would we have to go about this. A lady came over which I guess was a manager with a not so happy face and say we would have to return the whole sand which and return the money then re ring it and charge me again what. So I have to wait for my money and be charged again for your mess up. To me it was a simple fix make the sand which over and give me the correct one and I was willing to take the lil money loss to get the right sand which. Just wasn’t a pleasant visit and haven’t went back since. It’s about satisfying your customer not just giving them free stuff but making sure what they pay...

This is the worst tropical smoothie location in the Hampton roads. Every single time I go, and Despite how bad every visit is I still go, the staff is slow and extremely jaded and show no interest and compassion for their job. I ordered a Caribbean jerk chicken wrap and said that I did not want lettuce or pineapple salsa, the girl asked me again what I did not want and I repeated “no lettuce or pineapple salsa”. After 20 minutes we receive our food and left to go eat in the car and the minute I open my wrap I see lettuce and salsa. So I called them and told them I ordered a wrap and asked for no lettuce and salsa and went back and received a free wrap. The person I talked to on the phone wasn’t concerned and was just like yeah come back for another one. I get the wrap and I bite into it and It tasted so off. my usual at tropical smoothie is a Caribbean jerk chicken wrap so I know what it’s supposed to taste like and this one tasted god awful. It tasted burnt but it wasn’t even burnt so I was extremely confused as to why it would taste like that. I ended up throwing it out and in the end I spent $19 for an awful wrap and...
