This First Watch is located in the Hickman Place Shopping Center at the corner of General Booth Blvd. and Nimmo Pkwy. You can enter into the shopping center from either direction on Nimmo Pkwy., but only in the northbound direction from General Booth Blvd., where the Velocity Urgent Care is located. There is ample parking in this shopping center as well. My visit here was on December 14, 2019.
I had a birthday coupon for First Watch, which is why it was decided to come in and visit. We got here around 1:30 pm, but they do close at 2 pm. The timing of when we came in was no issue and we were immediately seated with menus. After looking over the menu for a while, we started to wonder who our server was and when they would get to the table. Finally, our server Karina came to the table and took our drink orders. After she brought the drinks out, we were ready to order. I went with the Tri-Fecta, which includes two eggs and a meat, plus waffle or pancake. I substituted for French Toast instead, which was no issue. My mom went with the Belgian Waffle.
About ten minutes later, our orders came to the table. Everything looked good once we got it and asked for extra napkins. She had forgotten so we had to catch her again to get them. After digging into the food, I could taste that it wasn't piping hot that most foods coming out would be. My mom said the same thing about hers as well. We were never able to get the attention of our server, so we just went with what we had at that point. She was over having a chat with someone at another table for a good amount of the time we were eating. When she did come back, we were already done and was ready for the check. After getting the check, we went up to the register to check out with my birthday coupon and head home.
Overall, I would just say it was okay. There wasn't anything that wow'd me. The food was okay as well. Portion sizes are smaller and prices higher when compared to other breakfast/brunch places in the city. I could get 3-4 full slices of French toast, plus eggs and bacon for the same price at other local breakfast spots. Service was lacking in this visit as well, and as noted above. I'm not sure if it was because she was burned out at the end of their day, but it was definitely not to the standard I am accustomed to at any restaurant. Maybe it was an off day, so I might come back and try it again...
Read moreIt was my first time eating at this location. I came In in front of another couple. The hostess/cashier asked how could and help me? I asked can I order a to go order? she said yes you can, she then told ME one minute (did not hand me a me a menu) seated the other couple, then came back and I had to ask for A Menu. Keep In Mind this is my first time eating at this restaurant. I didn’t notice that there was a little waiting area in the corner (with menus) so I took a seat at the closest empty table to look at the menu and order. The hostess never advised me that there was a waiting area. I get up I ordered my food back at the register and one of the waitress came over and said I thought she was eating in because she was sitting at the table and the hostess then says she has a to go order. She was sitting at table because it is so full in here......At this point “I” noticed the waiting area on the corner and proceeded to have a seat to wait for my order. As I waited another male host/cashier and asked if l would like some water while I wait. I said no thank you. Then my food came out (by a different female waitress) I ordered 2 eggs over hard, a carrot cake pancake a sausage link. My order came out. I had to ask I for syrup and butter there were also no to go utensils which i didn’t notice at first until she came back with the syrup and butter I had to asked for. I pay for my food and the original hostess/cashier is ringing me up as she’s handing my card back to me it falls on the floor she apologized and as I an struggling to pick card up off the floor because I’m having a hard with my nails. She never offered to help me pick it up. As I’m eating my food I noticed something about the sausage link I noticed it was a little soft when I cut it open it was slightly pink but done. I couldn’t take it back because I was at my destination. I ate the 2 eggs and a little of the pancake. (It was little tough) carrot cake is moist expected fluffier pancakes. This was at10:30 am. Within two hours I stared feeling horrible.. nauseated, tired, pain in my side. Around one I ended up vomiting all the food up Couldn’t hold anything down, no water or anything. I had to leave work at 2:30 because I was sick. I felt fine before Ate this food and After i ate it I was sick for the remainder of day.
The service was horrible and the I got sick after I ate...
Read moreI feel generous giving this place 2 stars, but the only saving grace was the food.
I found this place because the wait at the Bee and the Biscuit was over 1.5 hours (if you haven’t been before it’s worth the wait on a nice day!) and First Watch was less than 3 miles away with no wait, so we came here instead. I noticed it was new with only a hand full of reviews so I didn’t bother looking at them.... mistake.
Our waitress was friendly but that’s where the compliments stop with the service. She came to our table to take our drink and food order and after bringing our drinks we weren't checked on for 45 minutes. After a 45 minute wait, we noticed two people who arrived after us paying for their meal. I got up and asked them how long they waited to get their food and they replied “about 30 minutes”. The HOSTESS then came over and asked how long we had been waiting, which prompted our waitress to finally return and tell us she would check on our food! And miraculously, our food came out as soon as she walked back to the kitchen. And we weren’t the only table this happened to.
First thing we noticed? The food wasn’t even hot! But if you think we were going to say something and send it back and wait another 45 minutes, you’re crazy. So we ate our luke-warm food (which was decent) and left. So overall, the food was good but not worth the 45 minute wait at the table. We won’t...
