I have to say, this was the worst meal I’ve had in a long time. Our server was very strange. I asked for one glass of wine since I did not want to share a bottle with the group, but she ignored me and poured that bottle in my glass. She also was very aloof, almost like she was drunk. The food runner was extremely rude. He slammed the food down on the table as he dropped it and was noticeably annoyed when our group was figuring out who had what. For those prices, I would expect them to know who ordered what at a 10 person table. Also, the food was HORRENDOUS. The calamari was extremely chewy and had no seasoning. I honestly have had better calamari from the freezer section at Lidl. I’m pretty sure they microwaved it, it wasn’t even crunchy. For my food, it was extremely under seasoned. Actually, i don’t think there was any seasoning. I drowned it in Parmesan just to have flavor. In addition to having no flavor, the chicken was SO DRY. My dish had cold mozzarella balls plopped on top, like it was right out of the fridge. This meal would cost $5 and but at this “elevated dining restaurant” was $25!!! The only thing that is elevated there are the prices. I will not even eat the leftovers, it was THAT horrible. It takes a lot for me to hate a dining experience so much that I need to write a review about it. I don’t know if the chef was having an “off” day, but I’m sad my money went to this “fine...
Read morePretentious attempt at Italian food. I met a colleague for lunch and in spite of only a handful of patrons, the service was abysmally slow. My friend, who is a model of decorum and courtesy, kept trying to catch the eye of the staff to ask about the status of our order but after several attempts nothing was forthcoming. We were not given water and I asked for steamed milk for my coffee which by then was cold. We had an appointment so time was pressing. At one point the owner/manager (?) responded to our inquiry about the status of our modest frittata (we had been sitting for 45 minutes or more by then) and I asked if I could have my coffee warmed up, since by now it was stone cold. He said "we don't have a microwave; this is FINE DINING." Given the poor service (no bread, no water, cold coffee, one hour to get what was essentially a lump of eggs with a hunk of cheese melted on the top and some wilted bagged mesclun salad) the pretense of "fine dining" escaped me. I said "right." He then took it upon himself to publicly admonish me by saying this was a public restaurant and I needed to "be polite." So for more money that it's worth, you can go to Azzurro and get poor service, mediocre food, a bad attitude of conflated importance and a manager whose idea of "polite" is a temper tantrum launched on a patron. Richmond is full of great restaurants. There is no reason to waste your...
Read moreI have been here in the past and it was a pleasurable experience. Tonight was different. My wife and I ordered and when the food was brought to the table they had my order correct but brought her the same item I had ordered which is not what she had ordered. When we told the waiter he said something like he had hit a wrong key when he entered her order. I am eating while waiting for her order to be brought out. When it finally arrived I had finished my meal and my wife ate a few bites of hers but ended up having it boxed to go. So much for us dining together. Waiter never really apologized and never tried to make any offer for restitution. When we received the check there was also a charge for the incorrect order they bought my wife. Pretty pathetic, I bought it to his attention and had to wait for the corrected check. Sorry excuse for dining experience and less than that for the service from the waiter. (I must say that the other wait staff was very attentive to us). After all of this our waiter never even offered us a desert or discount for this fiasco. We were there for 1 hour and 45 minutes and won't be going back or recommending to my...
