Cotton & Rye at Leesburg Resort - 4/5 Stars
I recently dined at Cotton & Rye with my family during our stay at the Leesburg Resort. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and offers a menu filled with classic American dishes with a bit of a twist.
I ordered the Miso Glazed Salmon with a side of Parmesan Fries, and both were delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked—moist, flaky, and full of flavor thanks to the miso glaze. The Parmesan fries were crispy and generously coated with cheese, making them a perfect pairing with the salmon. I also tried the Mockapolitan, a non-alcoholic cocktail that was refreshing and well-balanced.
My family had the NY Strip Steak and Chicken Wings, and they were very satisfied with their meals as well. The steak was cooked just right, and the wings were crispy and flavorful.
The only downside was the slow service. The meal was leisurely paced, which was a bit frustrating, especially in a resort setting where you expect things to move a bit quicker. The staff was friendly and accommodating, but the wait between courses was noticeable.
Overall, Cotton & Rye offers great food, and I enjoyed my meal, but be prepared for a more laid-back dining experience. With some improvements in service speed, this could easily become a top dining spot...
Read moreStrike 1) Ordered a Red Bull. Server handed me a can without a glass. It's an entirely forgivable sin, but not classy at all.
Strike 2) Ordered a steak with broccoli to go. Tipped him very generously in advance. Said "Dead Rare" two times, correcting him the second time after he asked "Medium well?" Sat on the barstool closest to the kitchen for roughly 25-30 minutes until a manager comes up to me with the to-go bag. Still forgivable as it's about 10PM and the place is more than half full, after all.
Strike 3) Get home a few minutes later and the steak is well the hell done and tough as shoe leather. Was cold too, though that might have just been my drive. Sauteed broccolini and green beans were PERFECTLY crisp... but the chef went way overboard on the garlic and the whole bag reeked of it. I feel they were under-salted too but your mileage may vary on that - I gather their regular clientele isn't too hot on seasoning, if you catch my drift.
I've served + tended bar before and I'd be MORTIFIED if I treated a customer like that... especially a to-go order with a ~45% advance tip.
All in all, Lansdowne's a great-looking place but I won't be going back. It's all sizzle...
Read moreSad sad restaurant for a (high end resort) when you first walk in the restaurant there are zero windows and just a few tvs and pool tables. The menu was extremely limited few apps, salads, sandwiches, we went for dinner and had a choice of 4 entrees. The salmon was under cooked supposed to have miso didn’t see or taste it. Turkey club was not a club. Definition of club is 3 layers of bread. What we got was two pieces of untoasted bread, lettuce, tomato, bacon we had to ask for mayo.Plating and presentation was like a home cooked meal no effort put into the food. We stayed multiple nights our goal was to be able to eat meals at the resort. Sadly we had to uber eats and then go out somewhere else. For the standards and label of resort would expect better food selections and an effort put into the food. Hope this review open some eyes and alarms to do better and make it to where people can’t wait to go back. Because as of now we...
