Courthouse Cafe — Restaurant in Virginia

My sons Aunt works at this cafe and he asked could i buy him a sub for dinner. So i decided to buy everyone some dinner. The owner jumped in quick. Ill take the order her demeaner was so bad that I asked his aunt did she assume that we are going to get something free. Mind you I rarely go to this restaurant and we were the only blacks in there and the youngest. So my son struck a conversation up the older couple next to us. Then his aunt paid for thomas's potatoe skins that he wanted her to get him so he coukd get more food. I asked did he want extra sour cream he said yes. I asked his aunt did she have enough. The owner said out loud in front of alll the customers we havent stayed in business this long buy giving even .50 cent away. I said i dont accept handouts I pay for what I buy. Told my son get a to go menu so he can order over the phone because I will never come up here again make it so bad the food wasnt all that. I know personally I used to work there. Oh. My. Goodness. Beyond tasty food here! The Courthouse Cafe is seriously a gem. My husband and I are brand new to the area and have been trying different restaurants around town. We finally made it to the Courthouse Cafe and seriously, the food was amazing!

My husband had the fish and chips and I had the French toast. Now, when I tell you the French toast was insanely good, I mean it! It was cooked to absolute perfection! The perfect amount of cinnamon and powdered sugar, with the perfect egg to bread ratio. Absolutely scrumptious! The bacon was superb and the eggs were delicious.

Now, my husband's fish and chips were huge! The batter was crunchy and the fish was cooked exquisitely. The fries and onion rings were great. My husband and I love fish and chips and the best we have ever tasted were in Ireland. The Courthouse Cafe's fish and chips were definitely in the top five.

I’ve been meaning to stop here for over a year, but wasn’t able to due to how early I leave for work. I stopped on the way home for takeout and am so glad I did, the staff could not be friendlier or more attentive. I order their burger combo to go and was able to customize my burger for no additional charge. The burger patty was extremely thick and cooked to perfection, nicely seasoned and very juicy. I had caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms on it and the amount was incredibly generous. The mushrooms were thick cut and obviously fresh, they really complimented the burger and onions beautifully. The fries were a generous portion of steak fries and complimented the meal well. Another customer waiting for his order started a conversation with me and I was struck by how friendly everyone was, from employees to patrons. If you’re in the area I definitely recommend stopping.
