When I arrived at the restaurant, I was greeted by a towering mountain of bagels, begging my eyes and stomach to wreak havoc on their fresh dough exterior shells.
The bustle of the kitchen staff was intensely focused on the feeding of the masses, these were the last of a dying breed of bagel artisan who cared little for the frills and delicacies of modern breakfast cuisine. These men and women were dedicated on placing hot meals into the bellies of the hungry denizens who brought with them their weary malaise from their night’s slumber.
They weren’t heroes, but they were saviors. A young man with curly hair took our order and adeptly answered a host of intrusive phone calls. He was polite, but laser-focused, for his craft was more than just bagel service, he was a bagel artisan.
When we tasted the coffee, a Pandora’s box of taste and flavor rushed to our senses. It was as if the breakfast deities had hand-selected each bean and toasted it one molecule at a time.
When inquired about the location of the half and half, our server pointed calmly to a large refrigerator. “Our half and half is given the most sacred temperature rights.”
Our order also took a long time and there were some flies. But it was pretty...
Read moreEdit: past couple of times the coffee has been hot and ready I think the staff made a change from my last visit. Still the best bagels for a 100 miles.
I paid $6 dollars for 2 coffees and told them the coffee was out in both pots. We wait 45 min. and never got a cup and walked out. I was going to make it myself at one point. I understand that they were busy and you had the cashier running the phone and the front of the house as you had three guys in the back talking and making bagels. All he had to do was ask for some help to make the coffee quick. instead, we seat there with nothing to drink with our food. He started to make it as we were walking out. That just makes my blood boil because I love this shop, they have the best bagels for 100 miles but when you pay for something you expect to get it and not just brushed off for 45 min. We had a $30 ticket and tipped could we get some coffee at...

EDIT: I recently visited on 10/13/21, and was impressed. Kind, efficient staff, order on point!
Usually, I like Donnie D's well enough, but this time I wasn't impressed. It was either the online ordering or the staff, as I didn't receive my order how I am used to receiving it. I went in to pick it up, asked a staff member, and the answer I got was essentially, "Sometimes we do it, sometimes we don't."
Underwhelming. I've never had that experience in person. So, go order in person. I paid $12 online for one bagel sandwich that was half of what I...
