IHOP — Restaurant in Virginia

Came here for a Sunday brunch with my mother. Had a bit of a wait for seating, as to be expected, but our actually service was relatively fast. The issue was the food. I ordered a Turkey and stuffing meal with double hashbrowns for my sides. It was positively DREADFUL. The stuffing was just bread that had been soaked in water and turned into complete mush below the dry, unseasoned, and severely unappetizing Turkey. It looked NOTHING like the menu images. I was immediately feeling queasy just looking at it! Nonetheless, I gave everything a taste, and it was as dreadful as it looked. There was no physical way I could eat it. The only normal thing was the hashbrowns, which I began to eat before giving up due to how nausea the other food was making me.

The saving grace of this situation was the considerate staff. Our waiter returned and I explained to her the issues I had with the food. She was very understanding and immediately flagged down the attentive and nice manager, who happily agreed to remove the meal from the check, even when we offered to cover the cost of the hashbrowns I was eating. (Looking back, they could probably see how positively dreadful the food was and agreed it shouldn't be eaten by anyone.) Even after the food was removed and we had already paid the bill, the waiter returned and said that the last thing she wanted was for me to leave hungry, and offered me a free milkshake. I wished I had gotten her name!

Place was pretty empty (less than 10 parties seated) and there were about 4 servers so I figured service would be decent and pretty quick/efficient. I was wrong in every sense. Parties that were seated 15-20 minutes after us were taken care of and served food before us and left before we even got our food. We had to wait almost an hour for our food. I got up to take the kids to the bathroom and by the time we came back they started clearing our table. Apparently that is when they found it appropriate to finally bring us our food and thought we had left (knowing we had waited way too long). We didn't get everything we ordered and they tried to charge us for food we did not receive. One order of hash browns was undercooked and the other overcooked, they replaced one order of pancakes with hashbrowns, pancakes were dry and tasted mediocre (not the typical IHOP pancakes you expect), and never received the coffee I asked for either. Drinks were also never refilled until I stopped someone to refill our waters. Nothing was done by the manager to try to rectify the situation or compensate for the terrible quality of food we received. My family and I have visited this location several times before and it seems the service keeps getting worse every time. This will be our last visit and I suggest anyone reading this find somewhere else to go for a good meal in a decent time frame because you won't...

Server was attentive and was definitely 5 stars. Food came out quick but definitely too quick because it wasn't cooked well at all. How do you overcook eggs at a breakfast place? That should be like #1/#2 thing you should know how to do as a cook. Hash browns look like they had been sitting on the grill forever they were black and tough on the outside and clear / no color on the inside. They tasted like they weren't actually cooked. I even had to tell the waitress that the soda fountain have run out of one of its ingredients because the soft drink that I had ordered tasted super flat and without flavor or color. Even the pancakes, THE ONE THING THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE KNOWN FOR. We're falling apart the minute I tried to pick them up with my Fork. I had to, scoop them with my Fork instead of using the prongs of my fork. I asked if she could let the manager know about the condition of my food and such and she did. But I never heard from a manager, my food was never remade, and it wasn't even taken off the ticket despite me not eating any of the undercooked and overcooked items.

If I could give no stars I would. This place has fallen so far from where it used to be about 10 years ago. Even within the past year the food I've ordered has gotten noto eably worse and that's impressive given that I shouldn't be able to tangibly notice that...
