(I had a review previously, but I'm going to resubmit one due to the major changes Marco's just went through with their ordering system.)
The pizza is nothing to really write home about, but it's cheap without looking or tasting cheap. It's been my go-to pizza place since I moved to the area almost a year ago, and I think I'm sadly going to have to find another.
Previously, the rewards at Marco's were a free CheezyBread if you completed a survey on your order. This was a great system, and I loved it. I had a couple coupons saved up on my account for future use.
However, at some point last week, they completely revamped their online ordering and moved it to a third-party application. They did not migrate any existing accounts. I don't know the logistics--if it was even possible to migrate at all or if deletion was imminent--but I do know that the professional thing to do would've been to inform people with accounts. It's obviously possible; I get marketing emails constantly, and I even received an email notifying me of the update. However, Marco's silently proceeded to move forward with their plans and just let everything go.
Well, that's fine, I'll just start over with their new rewards system... oh, except they stopped offering the only special that was worth getting ($8.99 for a 1-topping (formerly 2-topping, so that's another strike for a franchise being cheap) large).
So, to summarize the above, the pizza is average chain pizza (think slightly below Papa John's average quality) with slightly above-average prices (pretty close to PJ's again) and a bunch of monkeys in suits who care more about profits than the customer base.
As far as the employees go, I've had decent experiences with some of them. There is one woman who's worked the register a couple times who does not seem to have any interest in being at work. She looks bored or tired all the time and makes no effort at good customer service. I have never once heard her thank a customer, wish them a nice day, etc. This is not the kind of person who should be a visible member of staff.
I also can't help but remember the time I picked up a pizza, and the person who was stretching the dough was coughing and wearing a hoodie (so most likely sick). He had his sleeves down and, of course, they were covered in flour. In food service, I'm fairly certain that's a health code violation. I've wondered for a few months now what other gross things go on behind the scenes, and now I guess I can put those worries to rest.
Thankfully, Fredericksburg has plenty of...
Read moreWe have been getting all our carry out pizza from here since Jose & Ann opened this Marco's. Great pizza here. BBQ chicken on thin crust and the works with anchovies are favorites. The wife likes the cheese with olives/peppers on lite crust. The store is clean, the staff well trained, and the service for phone ordering/pickup is exceptional. Military Mondays is 50% off. Get your card punched each visit and you'll soon be eligible for a free large 2 topping pizza. We don't bother with the other pizza joints that are closer to our home.
*Note this review was completed without using ridiculous undiscriptive terms like OMG, awesome, yummy, delish, to die for, do your self a favor, trust me, etc.. Describe the food, service (or lack of) and provide details on the cost/copy of check and include pictures! Is the place clean? No one cares about the waiter/waitress names, their abilities, or if they look like they fell face first into a tackle box. They get changed like underwear and you don't get to pick one. No we don't care about your allergies or the need for gluten free food.

Read moreCalled for dinner after a busy day at work for my family. Not wanting to cook I ordered 3 cheesesteaks, one without bread. The girl taking my order was so new she was asking me to help her with putting the order in. It’s ok, she’s new I totally get it. Looking pass that I paid for the order and waited... an hour and ten mins later (30 mins to 45 it was supposed to take) I call to ask where my families dinner was... the girl came back on the phone and proclaimed happily that it was ready, but it was gonna take another half an hour to get it... I want to add that I live literally six mins down the road... talking to the manager she informs me that they messed up on one of the cheesesteaks (the one with no bread) and that it needed to be remade... why couldn’t you call me and let me know? You waited till I called and honestly didn’t seem too sorry about it... I know you said you were... but you and I know you probably weren’t. What were you gonna do with the other cheesesteaks? Just let them sit under a warmer and taste old when you finally decided to drop my dinner off? Thanks but no thanks. I order from y’all consistently at least three times a month with a large order to feed at least 8 people in a band. No more though. Y’all used to be the only place in White Oak that would get our business. That’s definitely a change that’s being made tonight. Thanks...
