On 11/23/19 at 11:50 am, I visited the McDonald’s at 5520 W. Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23230. I ordered a triple cheeseburger, no pickles, but the drive-through cashier rung up 2 cheeseburgers instead. I didn’t realize this until I got to the window and she gave me my total. I corrected her, and she messed the order up again, ringing up 2 double cheeseburgers. I explained that it was wrong again, and I only wanted one.
She went to get the manager but left the window open. Because of this, I heard the entire conversation. The drive-through cashier told her boss that I messed the order up twice, and now she needed her help to fix it. The manager responded by saying, “Tell him that he ordered 2 double cheeseburgers, and that’s what he is paying for.” I was shocked. Reluctantly, she refunded me my money, during which she closed the window. I couldn’t hear what she said anymore, so I won’t speculate, but I know that she seemed agitated. She then opened the window, handed me my money, and didn’t say a thing; just mean mugged me.
The fact that I had to endure such disrespect is unacceptable. The manager’s job was to refund the customer’s money and be courteous, even if she didn’t mean it. The fact that McDonald's allows its employees to behave this way is mindblowing. I visit this location because it is closest to my home, but from now on, I would rather travel to another location. This reflects poorly on the owners and management. I have lived in the area for 10 years, and the service has gone progressively downhill over the last 5 years.
I am an African American, so it sickens me to see this location being managed so poorly by people that look like me. Most of the workers are rude, disrespectful, and act as though they do not want to work. Some, on the other hand, are friendly and hardworking, but they are outnumbered 5 to 1. If you are thinking about visiting this location, do so at your own risk. If you are near the 5000 block of Broad Street and want to visit a McDonald’s, there is one two miles to your east and one two miles to your west. I have never had an issue with these locations, but the store at 5520 W. Broad Street is the worst that I have...
Read moreI gave this McDonald's another try after a bad experience before because we were nearby and my daughter wanted McDonald's. But that was a huge mistake and I now am pretty certain that this is THE WORST McDonald's in the Richmond area. The food and service was so awful. At 9:20pm right after finally getting our burned french fries and burgers that were also burned and slopped together, everyone in the dining room was told to leave because they said that only one employee would be there.. HUH?? You're a McDonald's and only one person is going to be working all night?? The worst part was how rude they were about it.. none of the customers were even allowed to finish their meal and we had to ask for a bag. (The only thing we took in the bag was my daughter's chicken nuggets.. everything else I wouldn't even feed to my dogs.) One poor man that said he was from out of town on a business trip thought she was joking and laughed as she passed by. But a few minutes later, the other employee yelled at everyone from behind the counter to "leave the lobby immediately". Just WOW! I did feel obliged to tell the visiting man that I think this McDonald's is the very worst one in this area.. hoping he doesn't go back to where he's from with just a McDonald's horror story from his trip to Richmond to tell. Whomever owns and manages this particular location really needs to pay more attention to what's...
Read moreDropped there to get a quick order. When we entered, there are 2 or 3 customers having their lunch and I'm the only person in line for order. There are 3 or 4 people working at the register. They saw us coming in and standing in line but to our surprise none of them acknowledged but kept ding their work. After roughly 10 mins, one guy approached hesitantly and took our order. I have ordered for 1 Artisan Grilled Chicken and another Buttermilk Crispy Chicken sandwiches. At this point we are the only customers inside and there are couple of drive thru orders going now and then. After waiting for roughly another 15 mins, the guy who took the order asked to come over and I thought order is ready, but to our another surprise he told they ran out of Artisan Grilled but suggested to go with regular Buttermilk crispy chicken sandwich. After 5 mins, we have the order ready and when I looked inside there are no dipping sauces inside and I asked for Ranch. The answer I got from the guy did not surprise me (pun intended).. Come on McDonald, you ran out of Ranch too??? Did I forget to mention that... while we are waiting for the order, I have observed that many of those working in the kitchen and those who packing the food are NOT wearing any protective Food Handling gloves and one point of time I saw one of them coughing into his hands...disgusting NEVER AGAIN to...
