Mi Jalisco Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Virginia

Edit 10/26/24 - we were very disappointed with today's order. The regular tacos were soggy. The al pastor tacos were equally soggy, but also oddly flavorless. The beans were cold. I would have had a better meal if I'd gone to publix and bought a can of beans and a bag of tortilla chips.

Original post: We've had delivery from Mi Jalisco quite a lot, but it was our first time dining in recently. The place was bustling on a Friday night. They were out of clean silverware! They quickly found us some when we asked. Nonetheless: minimal wait time, efficient service, and good food. This is a neighborhood American-Mexican place in a strip mall in a residential area, so don't expect haute cuisine or ancestral Oaxacan dishes. It's the usual burritos/enchiladas/tacos menu. That said, it's done very well, and sometimes that's just what hits the spot....

Pretty much everything you could want from a strip mall, quick and easy Mexican restaurant. Service is lighting fast. You've got chips and salsa in front of you before you're even done sitting down. Entrees come flying out of the kitchen here like they've been shot from a cannon. The efficiency is almost startling. The menu is massive; it has everything on it you could possibly expect it to have, but the quality of basic proteins (like ground beef) just seems a little higher here than most others, while remaining quite cheap. You can't really fault much, although their margaritas are pretty mundane. Regardless, for a quick weeknight meal or takeout, they're hard to beat on food quality...

Beware of the ValPak coupon deals. It makes zero reference to “dine in only”. No verbiage on coupon referencing dine in only. In fact it even states in big letters “Take Out Available. “ They had a coupon with free queso if buying 2 combo dinners. Exactly what I ordered online for take out and I added a tip. I asked for the coupon deal which would deduct $4.95. When I picked up I was told dine in only. C’mon folks read and know what’s on your own coupon. I didn’t argue but yes I felt mislead because I was compliant with what I ordered. It was more than we would usually order. If you put coupons out to bring people in please honor them. Don’t change...
