I am a African American woman from NY who visited this bar while visiting a friend in Va.. I had literally just arrived off of the Amtrak train and was looking forward to cocktails and barbites.. When my friend and I arrived we took a seat and while waiting for a waitress I walked to the bar and waited for the barmaid to acknowledge me (it took awhile) which was weird because she was not attending to any other patron. When she did finally acknowledge me it wasn't warm and friendly so I decided to go back to my seat and just wait for the waitress.. The waitress came and thankfully she was more engaging.. We ordered food and drinks.. Both the food and drinks were subpar.. When ordering the second round of drinks I ordered the same drink and asked if it would be made with less sour mix.. The waitress immediately expressed concern due to the barmaids unwillingness to accommodate these types of request.. I was taken aback because what bar tender would have an issue with such a simple request right? I took a chance and ordered the drink with the expectation that if there was a problem then surely that would be communicated right.. Wrong...The drink was brought back literally made the same way.. After tasting the drink I immediately knew that I did not want it..I asked her to remove the drink from the tab..Note: She never took the drink from the table.. I ordered a simple vodka and pineapple and a round of shots for my friend and I.. I was really just looking to unwind.. My friend and I stayed for about another hour.. We spent more money on jello shots and drinks until we were ready to go.. When the bill came the drink was still on it and I asked the waitress about it.. She stayed that I had to speak with the Manager which I was more than willing to do..Get this...The Manager was the barmaid/bartender.. She came to the table with her nasty disposition and refused to acknowledge my rationale regarding not wanting to pay for the drink.. She literally said that she does not make any adjustments to any drinks and once the drink is made it has to be paid for.. At this point I was literally appalled and I flat out refused to pay for the drink.. Note: The whole entire drink was still sitting on the table..Needless to say I paid the tab minus the drink.. She literally locked the door so my friend and I could not leave and called the police.. It took the officers about 15 minutes to arrive.. Meanwhile the Managers daughters came to our table basically demanding full payment! At this point I was literally holding in my anger and awaiting for the officers to arrive.. Note: While awaiting the officers the waitress was very apologetic, there was a young white couple who had witnessed the entire exchange and even they were shocked at the turn of events...There was also a male employee who knew my friend who reported that the Manager has a very nasty attitude who was also visibly upset.. The officers finally arrived (2 young ladies- one white/one black) and after speaking to the Manager literally came to me and demanded that I pay the entire tab.. My friend who was relatively quiet through out the entire ordeal became triggered because the young black officer was very aggressive and nasty with her exchange with me.. They did not care to hear what I had to say and stated that if I did not pay then I was going to be arrested for refusing to pay the bill.. meanwhile that was not the case at all and the drink in question was STILL on the table.. Up until that incident I really loved Va..That level of racism and discrimination and out right abuse of power by the officers really hurt my heart.. It was literally one of the worst experiences in my entire life.. Note: My friend and I was out having lunch at a another well established chain restaurant and had a sit down with the Manager who was blown away by the entire situation.. Disgusting... BTW: If you didn't guess..The Manager was a older unkempt...
Read moreMhm. Went here on a Thursday night and came in to join my group that had been there for a while. It was somewhat busy but we had to call the server over so I could order. The bacon cheeseburger was pretty good, although I didn’t like how small the bun was compared to the patty. But I had to remind the server that I had asked for a sweet tea.
Then she bought out the most nastiest drink I ever sipped. It was not sweet tea, it tasted like the water they used to rinse out the tea container(gross). She was really nice the whole night tho. I asked her to take it away and she was genuinely concerned. I have no clue if she took it off the bill, my boyfriend didn’t ask for a receipt and I never followed up.
All in all, pretty okay place to just play some pool, they have plenty of tables. But other than that I really wouldn’t trust...
Read moreUpdated review: Went back now that the new ownership has been in place for a while. Tried the potato skins appetizer and Hangover Burger. The potato was cooked perfectly: crispy skin and soft center. But it had no flavor- I'm not sure how the bacon bits did not add any saltiness, but that was definitely the case here. The burger was ordered medium-rare and came out well done. It also had little flavor depth, which is the opposite of what I would expect from a "hangover curing" burger. The fries were the highlight, crispy and perfectly salted.
Presentation for both the app and entree were fantastic, but they didn't deliver in flavor.
Server was amazing, and my burger was cooked perfectly. I frequently find that my medium-rare burgers come out well done, but this was prepared exactly as...
