In town for a Mermaid convention this weekend, I didn’t get a chance to eat while working the show today so by the time it got out at 5pm I was starving! Initially we found Gino’s on the map and decided to go there even though we weren’t really craving Italian and when we pulled in we saw Swagat Indian Cuisine. Both me and my hubby have come to love Indian food so we both wanted to go there instead. We had their Mango Lassi’s, Cilli Paneer, I had goat Curry and my husband had butter chicken. We also ordered some Garlic Naan. The Chilli Paneer was delicious! The cheese was so fresh it squeaked in our teeth as we ate it. The Garlic Naan was heavenly, it had a bunch of fresh garlic on it which I love! The mango Lassi’s were really good too and had a maraschino cherry in it. My goat curry was absolutely delicious too! If you never had goat, just know there are tiny bones in it. I knew that so it didn’t bother me. Think of it like Oxtail, the bones just add to the flavor. My husband’s butter chicken was delicious as well! This place easily matches with one of our favorite places back home in Tennessee. If you love Indian food, you seriously need to eat here! I’ve already bookmarked it for next year when we come back to the same...

I stopped in here while traveling through the area. I ordered the lunch buffet at around 1:30PM on a Saturday, which may be a little on the late side of the buffet, but I was still happy to see most items were fresh enough to try.

The best thing I sampled was the vegetable curry. The veggies were perfectly cooked, not mooshy at all, and the curry had a nice zing to it.

The butter chicken was pretty standard, nothing special but creamy and not bad.

The tandoori chicken was, despite being bright red, totally unseasoned. I couldn't even detect salt .

The pakoras were overcooked (burnt) and somewhat bad to taste, even with mango chutney. This explains why there was so much of this dish on the buffet

One thing I didn't realize when I ordered the lunch buffet ($14.95) was that it did not include naan bread. So, I ordered a $5 garlic naan to complete the meal. The naan came out doughy and not particularly well flavored.

The service was top notch, they did everything right.

Unfortunately, I came for the food and...

Great visit. I was able to call day of and get a table for 12 to celebrate a birthday; we were accommodated and ended up with a party of 7. The servers helped us with recommendations and answered all questions as it was most people’s first time trying Indian cuisine. This was my 4th or 5th time. I ordered DoorDash from here once but equally enjoyed the dine in experience. The restaurant was spacious and there’s plenty of parking in the shopping center.

I ordered the chicken curry lunch portion. I didn’t want mild and almost got medium but the server told me I could get an in between option (“mild to medium”) so I did. I love spicy food but I know Indian spice is another level lol. The food came out fresh and tasted wonderful, it wasn’t lacking flavor. And even with the lunch portion I ended up with leftovers (actually every one did). I opted for the garlic naan and onion naan from the bread basket and they tasted wonderful. I’ll definitely dine here again and...

Great vegan and vegetarian options! I really appreciate that vegan entrees are clearly marked on the menu. We've gotten carryout from Swagat twice now and it's been delicious both times. It's ready fast and is served up hot. My favorite vegan dishes have been the baingan bharta (roasted eggplant with lots of yummy spices), aloo gobi (potatoes and cauliflower), chana masala (chickpeas), and tadka dal (mildly spiced lentil stew). Entrees come with delicious basmati rice. I need to ask to be absolutely sure, but I think the samosas and pakoras are probably vegan if you skip the mint chutney (might contain yogurt). The samosas are wonderful. The pakoras we got were pretty dry and tough, like they'd been fried a long time ago. The pakoras are the one thing I probably wouldn't order again, everything else has been stellar. In summary: vegans and vegetarians rejoice! There's good Indian food in the area, finally!
