Potbelly Sandwich Works – 1577 Spring Hill Road, Tysons, VA
♿ Accessibility Warning ☆ ADA Compliant ☆ Not Wheelchair Friendly
I am the first to admit when I am wrong, and after my initial post, I went back to Potbelly to confirm what I thought was true. Having dealt with ADA suits before, I found it hard to believe they would not be in compliance. Yes, there is a lift.
When I returned alone, I wondered, “How did we miss that?”
The answer is simple: in the moment, with my back to the small, unmarked lift door, my wife and I were fully focused on my sister’s safety. She is unsteady even with a walker, and making sure she didn’t fall was our top priority.
Potbelly is ADA compliant in the strict legal sense. But it is not wheelchair friendly: handicapped parking is located 125–150 feet away at the far end of the building, there are no curb cuts near the storefront, and the lift is not clearly marked with the wheelchair ♿ symbol.
I could have just taken my original review down. But that would have been wrong. I made a mistake, and I will own up to it. What matters most to me is earning your trust as a fair and balanced reviewer — and that means owning it when...
Read morePotbelly’s is my favorite sandwich shop, hands down. I’ve been to this location many times since my new office is in the area.
No food complaints, but fair warning: the evening crew locks the doors 25 minutes before closing and won’t open even if you wait, knock, etc. The sign says they close at 8:00 pm, but I almost couldn’t pickup a sandwich at 7:45 that I ordered online and I could see sitting on the pickup shelf. Fortunately, there was one last customer in the store, so when he left, I was able to enter. I’ve seen people at 7:40 standing outside the store trying to get someone’s attention so they can pick up their orders too. I understand it’s inconvenient when someone comes in 5 min before closing and orders a sandwich, but it would be nice to at least be able to pick up completed orders until closing. Very frustrating. But they do make...
Read moreSandwiches were decent but not extraordinary. I ordered the Wreck the Mayo was a bit runny but otherwise was ok. I got it in the Bigs size and though it was enough food for a big guy it's a bit expensive. My daughter got the Italian and said her Mayo was runny and overall "meh". Her friend got the pizza sub and said it needed more sauce and didn't expect provolone cheese so it kinda messed it up for him. The men's room is a single toilet and not very clean. A worker came out to mop up something and drug the mop behind him causing a wet streak in the middle of a high traffic area. He was reprimanded but super slack. The decor eclectic but too eclectic as nothing matched. Good for the guys to get some grub after work or takeout but I wouldn't bring the...
