Classic Bakery — Restaurant in Virginia

I ordered a cake from this bakery for my sons 5th birthday. Originally getting an inquiry was difficult. I submitted the form and heard back within 48hrs. However, my follow up response went unanswered for atleast 3 days. I then called to bakery to see if I could speak with the individual who answered my inquiry. I was told they were out and my message would be delivered to them. The weekend passed before I called back again as my call had not been returned. After finishing this phone call communication was seamless. Fast forward, it came time to pick up the cake (about 18 hrs before the party). Upon arrival I was shown the cake and the artistic design was A+, 5 ⭐️! I ordered some pastries and took the cake to the car. During this time I noticed something sticky coming from the bottom of the box. I opened the top and saw something “leaking” at the bottom. I immediately brought the cake back inside and mentioned it to the manager. I was looked at like I had three heads and was told it was probably just (something). No one moved to remedy the situation so I stated again. The box was wet and leaking something sticky on me and my car and I’d love for them to fix the issue. They then took the cake to the back and began to dry it. A separate employee came out to tell me what it was that was leaking, they are in the process of drying it, I cannot have a new box but they will lay something down inside the original to avoid it leaking on the box again as the problem, a crack in the fondant at the base, cannot necessarily be fixed and that it was possible, but unlikely for this to continue. The cake was kept refrigerated until the party. Come time for the party and the side of the cake was doing a bubble thing (you can see this in the pictures) which I attempted to just push in as it looked like it would just continue to droop, this frustrated me. The flavor of the cake (lemon with a lemon flavored “frosting”) was strong but nice. The texture was not. It was crumbly, not appealing. (I’m glad I got a second ice cream cake). As I stated, the decorations are definitely what made the cake and received many compliments, however, with the issues with structure it still was not perfect. The cake was for 15 people, and still pretty large. With the price I paid and the issues that occurred, I’m on the fence about recommending this facility. The 3 stars are purely because the artistic ability was amazing. Other than that, I can’t say I was particularly happy about my experience. This is not the first decorative cake I’ve ordered, this is the first time I’ve experienced such issues. My honest rating would probably be 2.5⭐️...

BE AWARE DO NOT GO TO THIS BAKERY

Our whole experience with this bakery was terrible and unacceptable from the moment we placed our order.

Trying to place an order for my daughters graduation took way too long because of the late responses to emails and requests. We even stopped by the bakery itself to talk to them about the order since we were not being responded to on time. When we finally placed the order we emailed them pictures as a reference to how we wanted the order to look like and were told that they would make it look like the pictures.

The day of the party came and delivery for our order was set for 12 pm since we had guests coming at 3. 1 hour after the promised delivery time we began contacting the bakery asking where our order was. They tried to assure us that it was on its way and that it would be there soon. The delivery came at 3 pm, 3 hours after the promised delivery time. When we opened up the box we were shocked at what was in there. The cake had completely fallen apart. Macaroons were broken and nothing looked like the reference pictures that we had sent. They whole order looked like one of those Pinterest fails that you would laugh at, even writing “Class 2019” instead of “Class of 2019”.

Of course, we were unhappy with what we had gotten and immediately took pictures and contacted the bakery via email and phone. On the phone we talked to the owner of the bakery and he apologized for the service and promised that he would issue a full refund for the order. But a refund wasn’t gonna help our situation. The dessert table looked like a mess and it was completely embarrassing having to take pictures with the ugly products.

2 weeks later, we still did not receive our refund. We contacted the bakery and our conversations has been filled with false promises. The owner was the most disrespectful person We have ever talked to. After being yelled at over the phone he sent us an unprofessional, disrespectful email again promising us a falls refund.

It’s been over two weeks after that and we still have not received any refund and we will now end this with a dispute.

Once again please do not place an order with this bakery and save yourself...

I recently visited the bakery with high hopes after reading positive reviews on Google. However, my overall experience was far from satisfactory. I ordered a selection of pastries, including custard and creamy Napellion, Rollet, and a fruity cake for a birthday celebration. Unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired, particularly with the Napellion.

The Rollet was decent, but the creamy and custard Napellion were a letdown. I had expected a fresh and delightful pastry, but it seemed far from its prime. The taste and texture were not up to par, leaving me wondering why the bakery would serve outdated pastries to their customers. It's concerning when a place with good reviews disappoints in such a manner.

On a positive note, the Rollet was enjoyable, showing that the bakery has the potential to deliver tasty treats. However, this was overshadowed by the overall lackluster experience.

I genuinely hope that the bakery takes customer feedback seriously and improves its offerings. Everyone deserves a fresh and delightful experience when indulging in bakery delights. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and hope for a better experience next time.

While I was tempted to give just one star due to the underwhelming Napellion, I decided to award them two stars. This rating reflects the potential I see in the bakery to improve and hopefully deliver on the positive reviews I had seen prior to my visit. Fingers crossed for a better visit...
