From my previous review from this place was November 3rd I got a BAD PIZZA. I’m doing this review off of a new email. ( for an update) Never in my life have I encountered such a horrible situation of a sit down in my life with “next person in charge” at first I walked in went to the front said why I was there cool absolutely no problem. Sat down with whoever the man was explained what happened that my family got sick Friday night wayyy after business hours DIDNT THINK ANYTHING OF IT. Proceeded to eat the leftovers the next day because we weren’t sure how we got an overnight bug and didn’t have a clue to pin point where it came from so we ate it Saturday felt the same as before. Same thing :) but the person didn’t want to hear that all he kept saying was hospital bills and proof like his body language was horrible his tone was horrible. Then explained what I purchased from this place I said a small pizza and in the rudest tone he said wrong place you didn’t get it from here. So I had to clarify to his terms an 18in small pepperoni pizza. then my husband came in because I was about to leave the establishment because I didn’t want things to get out of hand. (But best believe it did he threatened to call the cops on us & we were waiting for about 10 minutes I wanted the cops to come so bad) Then my husband proceeds to talk to him about the situation and how we still had the pizza even though yesterday they told us on the phone to throw it away but currently still right now I have this pizza in my possession. And we had no problem going back home to get the pizza to bring it back but the man in charge didn’t want anything to do with that. Over all I give this place a huge -10 would never in my life recommend this place and I’ll definitely doing a social media review as well just to blast this place thank you original pizza sams for the horrible experience learn customer service please...
Read moreEdit: With a heavy heart, I must update my review. First of all, this is hands-down the best pizza in the area and it is not even close. I have been addicted to this place since they opened. I come here all the time. But that ended today. As I went to shake parmesan on my pizza, there was a roach inside the shaker. Crawling around. I feel so disgusted. I feel I am about to throw up the little I ate. I have a bad aversion to roaches. What was just as unsettling was the employees' reactions. I brought the shaker, and they seemed unphased and unsurprised. There was no apology and not really an acknowledgment. Like this was normal for them, and like, as the customer, I should be okay with roaches in the food. If you don't have an aversion to roaches, this pizza is great! I am very regretful that I can not eat here again. I just hope that they will do some big extermination and put in some measures to keep away the roaches for good. Because I really want to come back one day. But I will leave my original review. You can find it below:
Those who see my reviews know that I don't easily give out 5 stars. To earn 5 stars, you have to be top-notch, cream of the crop for me. The Original Pizza Sam exceeds that for me. I would give them 6 stars if I could. This has been hands-down, my favorite pizza place outside of New York. I have been to more pizza places in New York than I can remember, and there is only one place in NYC that I would put above Pizza Sam. To have this quality of pizza in Virginia is amazing. Some say the secret to New York Pizza is the water. I don't know what the secret is, but it can't be the water because Sam does it well. I am so addicted to this pizza that I am going to go fat. But at least I will be happy...
Read moreWow, phenomenal pizza. I used to have several favorites for pizza but over the years, the quality changed and I started making my own pies because I could not find a good pie.
I no longer will be making my own. This place is brought to you straight from Queens to Newport News. This is the real NY pizza you can get right here in Hampton Roads.
Ordered a round pepperoni. The crust was fantastic. Bottom was crisp and dough was chewy even after driving 30 minutes to get home. Just the right amount of sauce, cheese and pepperoni to savor all the flavors.
Be aware the place is super, super busy. When they get packed, they stop taking phone orders. That's just something you have to live with if you want good NY pizza. I ordered inside and the wait was 45 to 50 minutes. Not a big deal. It was worth the wait. If your in a hurry, call one of those chain pizza places.
No doubt about it, this place is a huge success already. When I was there, some of the customers said they drove 40 miles to get the pizza. It was a good 25 minute drive for me.
Fantastic folks running this place. I don't know how the guy stays so cheerful when it is non-stop. He is a pizza making machine! In the time I was there, about 40 pizzas came out of the oven.
Only one size pizza so don't ask for a medium or large. You can get a round, sicilian or grandmas pizza. They also sell slices which is very popular and the size of the slices is generous. I picked up a round pepperoni to go and after two slices, I couldn't eat...
