Armstrong’s Bayou Cafe (Union Grove) — Restaurant in Waco

My family and I finally tried Pee-Wee’s Crabcakes for dinner tonight. I got the Crabby seafood pasta and my husband got the Loaded seafood potato. The kids got the fish & fries meal and kids Alfredo.

The staff at the restaurant were very friendly and made sure that I had been helped, while I was waiting for my order to finish being prepared.

Now onto to the food. I so wish I would have taken photos of our meals, but we were all pretty hungry, so that didn’t happen. Lol

My crabby seafood pasta was a very hefty and generous portion. The sauce was creamy and full of all kinds of flavor. The seafood was fresh and amazingly delicious. They do not skip on anything at Pee-Wee’s . I had a large crab cake in my oats as well as 6 very good sized crab cake balls and plenty of shrimp and crawfish all throughout the pasta.

My husband’s loaded seafood potato also had an amazing and flavorful sauce and lots of delicious fresh shrimp, crawfish and crab. Oh and his potato also came with a large crab cake on top.

My daughter’s fish was delicious and well seasoned and perfectly fried. Her meal included a really good size piece of cat fish and some great seasoned fries.

My son had the kids Alfredo and for being a regular Alfredo dish, it had excellent Cajun flavor as well.

And I almost forgot, we also got the Boudin egg roll appetizer. Those things were freaking stellar!!!

My family and I were beyond happy with our first experience with Pee Wees Crab cakes. We are looking forward to our next visit. I cannot wait to try more items from their menu. They offer many excellent options.

We were promptly seated. There were several groups seated and 2 tables full of dirty dishes that needed to be cleared. Our server came quickly to take our order and bring drinks. Our food arrived from the kitchen and looked delicious. My husband had the seafood stuffed potato and I had a shrimp po' boy with Cajun fries. The portion sizes were huge! My husband really enjoyed his dish. I spent a bit nibbling on the awesome fries and trying to figure out how to tackle my sandwich. The sheer size made it hard to wrangle. I managed to get it picked up, but fitting it in my mouth was a chore. The bread was toasted heavily so each attempted bite sent crumbs everywhere. (I found a bunch later when i got ready for bed 👙iykyk) I finally decided to eat the fried shrimp on their own and they were delicious! There were about 20 decent sized shrimp on my sandwich. Between the pile of fries and the large amount of shrimp, I was plenty full.

My only complaints:

The server didn't come back even once until they brought the check. They never asked if we needed anything else or if the food was good. They did, however find time to browse things on their phone behind the counter. The original two tables were never cleared, nor were the three more that were finished while we were there. Looking at other people's half eaten plates isn't appealing.

We will give this place...

We drove to Waco just to dine at this little gem nestled in Waco. And oh boy, what an absolute treat!!

Our selections were gumbo, fried catfish, seafood egg rolls, blackened catfish with asparagus, fries & the seafood combination platter. Oh and the blackened catfish stuffed potato.

Let me just say clearly; every single item was absolutely delicious and well-prepared. Full of favor and spice which was endless throughout the enjoyment of our meals. The customer service was great and very helpful with our questions due to shellfish allergies for one us.

The food was so good that immediately after saying grace, we dug right into our meals and forgot to take photos. Even moreso, it would have been embarrassing to provide photos of the clearly eaten foods.

We will definitely return and bring the family out to enjoy as well. Thank you to the staff and chef; kudos and continued success. We will come to your city and location again real soon..
