1st off, if you are coming in from out of town & arriving at dusk/dark, the signage needs improvement. This place is lit up like Fort Knox except the restaurant sign itself, an unlit wood carving (approx 4’x4’ ) not visible from the street. We arrived for a later dinner (8 pm) THE DAY AFTER Valentine’s Day, only to be turned away by a very unfriendly, snooty man inquiring whether we had a reservation (certainly they accept walkins right?). I mean, this isn’t a Michelin starred restaurant in the middle of Dallas. He acted as if they were closed for a private event & we were intruding. Mind you literally half of the dining room was empty. Rather than saying, “I’m so sorry we are on a ‘reservation only’ status FOR THE DAY AFTER VALENTINE’S DAY but let me see if we can accommodate you.” Or perhaps “We had an overwhelming response to our holiday dinner & had to split reservations across 2 nights, rather than just Valentine’s Day & are offering only a limited price fixe menu tonight; would you still be interested in joining us for dinner?” Or how about “can I reserve a table for you tomorrow night?” But no, he just looked down his nose & sneered that they were not accepting any guests w/out reservations. Hello? Do we not have the 24x7 ability to edit info online to instantly notify potential guests who are driving out there to dine & that they were on a RESERVATION ONLY status?!! Had it actually been Valentine’s Day, I would have called and 100% assumed reservations may be required; but the DAY AFTER? A big NO! In consideration of your potential guests, local or not, it is Impertive to advertise these things clearly. Please make updates on your website so people like my myself, who is from out of town and drove all the way out to a remote locale. For us, it was too late at night, based upon its location/time of day to regroup & have the time to dine elsewhere. I am a mere few weeks out of back surgery so we couldn’t attempt dining earlier but most assuredly didn’t expect issues the day after V Day. Please note Mr. I Need Some Customer Service Training & perhaps a few social etiquette refreshers, regardless of our particular circumstances, you were rude & made us feel very welcome. Had you communicated the info better or even made an effort by explaining that u only had a limited # of portions for a set menu that eve for reserved guests only & perhaps offering us to please join you another night (potentially w/free desert or ?? since [you] took your time to come all the way out here & we failed to make our RSVP Only status abundantly clear online). While your menu looked enticing, & we do travel through the area several times a year, we will NEVER dine at your establishment as you clearly have a disrespect & disregard for others. I would be remiss w/out commenting on parking issues. The parking is dangerous for people that have large vehicles who are attempting to access Handicap spots. There is about one parking space too many on the middle row of the lot to access the single-laned, narrow drive that leads to the front of the restaurant. Two Thumbs Way down for your hospitality and behavior. There is a LOT of local competition in the industry & plenty of fantastic options to not tolerate establishments that don’t value their guests. We have travelled all over the country & never experienced what you...

Read moreSo disappointed in our trip to homestead. We went for our second time. First time since the restaurant was reopened. I'm a diabetic, type 1 and the first time I had gone we had a wonderful experience. This was a trip from Houston with a group of friends who really had appreciated the first time we had all gone. They have changed their menu significantly and sadly the servers as well. The young man who "helped us", was sarcastic and rude. I was disappointed when I asked him if their was anything they could do to accommodate a vegetarian and diabetic, as they had done so well on the past experience. He shortly replied I was out of luck. He made no effort to talk to the kitchen, just was rude. This made for an awkward situation for the rest of my table who had all driven 4 hours just to see and eat at the new homestead Cafe. I then asked about a special dessert that homestead was known for a sugar free cheese cake that really was fun the last time. His answer was once again short and rude. I never saw him attempt to do any service recovery, or even appear to empathize with a group of friends who were not getting the same experience we had experienced in the past. At one point during the meal I had to take my 4 year old daughter to the restroom, and walked by some of the staff up front. They asked me how we were enjoying our visit.... it was then I decided to tell the manager of our experience. I told him it was sad, and I didn't need compensation for my experience. He confirmed they were very busy and that they had indeed taken the diabetic friendly cheese cake off the menu. He tried to give me a gift card which I initially declined, as I didn't really want money or a gift card. He insisted I take it, and I eventually obliged. However, sadly, I will probably never use it, and that was not a service resolution to the problem. It all seemed like they were defending the lack of service, and changes to the menu, and the lack of flexibility in the kitchen.... it was just sad. I really am hoping they will find a way to get back to who they were. We had the reservations for months and you would hope they understand they are a...
