Asian Star — Restaurant in Wagoner

Stopped in for a quick meal near closing time with some friends. We ended up eating inside the restaurant and we were very pleasantly surprised with some great American Chinese food.

The atmosphere in the restaurant lends itself more to take out. It’s something between a fast food and sit down restaurant. But don’t let that dissuade you from eating there. The food was really quite delicious. And the restaurant was absolutely clean.

We had the combination plates of pepper beef, sweet and sour chicken, egg fu yong and Mongolian beef and an appetizer of fried dumplings.

The combination plates come with fried rice and a pork egg roll. The beef was tender and delicious and a very good quantity - served hot and fresh! The egg fu Yong was delicious and came as a large portion of three patties. We liked the egg rolls as well as the pork fried dumplings. There was take home as the four of us could not finish everything!

The owner was fantastic and very pleasant with us. We enjoyed her as a server and as a person we could talk with and get recommendations from.

We had just had some Chinese takeaway 5 days ago in Wisconsin and this restaurant (Asian Star) was far better with more taste and that umami sensation of flavor.

Both take out and dine in are good options, but I am certain most of their business is take away.

Food is the nastiest food I've ever eaten. I don't know if the person that I dealt with is manager or owner, she was very rude, telling me that I should have went to the buffet. No one else has a problem with their food, I'm the only one. I had the meat trio(pork,chicken,shrimp) I couldnt tell the pork from the chicken, the batter on the meat was doughy. She kept telling me that I ate the chicken and left the pork and that I ate half of the fried rice. I didnt eat the fried rice I brought it back in the bowl I was trying to eat the food out of. She kept telling me that I should have went to the buffet. She refunded the original amount but then charged me($12.56) for 1 chicken on a stick and half the fried rice. We seem to always go to the drive thru for late takeout. We have never been inside, not even sure if dine in opened after COVID. The food is always very good and very hot. If you order at window instead of calling ahead, it is ready fairly quick too.The amount of food they fit in the tubs is amazing. The meat pieces are tender but cut a little thicker and larger than I like. For us, the veggies are never cooked quite enough. (Both easy enough to fix before we eat). The flavors are wonderful. But they will adjust the spice or heat if you ask. Like every restaurant they have their own version of how a dish is prepared even if same names on the menu elsewhere.
